Mya Hookahs Compared To Egyptians...

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say that I own two MYA hookahs, ones an acrylic and one is just a 22" stem and I use my own glass base. My friend has this egyptian hookah he recently got and it smokes so much better in every aspect... From the hits, the flavor, everything is so much smoother and the smoke is so much cooler. So I was thinking of getting a new stem from Social Smoke (The Oasis). I already have a nice egyptian base so I was just going to get the stem. But has anyone else here had an issue with this? The mya hookahs just smoke differently, the smoke is more gray, and i always taste some coal no matter what my set up is. We once tried both hookahs and I set both of them up the same way and his was still so much better. But yeah, just me ranting, comments?

Many variables could affect your smoke (tobacco, coals, heat, acclimation, water level and temperature, etc etc etc). MYA's are pretty popular here. However, SS does make great hookahs as well. If you have the money, and think it'll make a difference, than try it.

Worst comes to worse, you've expanded your collection smile.gif

I've tried a number of different Mya machines (mine: QT and Bohemian, others: Acrylic, big blue cloissone) and feel pretty strongly that Egyptians perform and feel much better. Like Web said, there are plenty of other variables that could be affecting your smoke, but all I can say from my experience is that Myas just don't hold up in terms of performance, and are questionable in terms of manufacturing quality.

There are three normal sizes of jar, 22, 26 and 30. If you get the appropriate gasket for the jar, it will fit most shanks. It may look a little dumb to put a 30 jar or a shank that has a 22 diameter, but oh well.
