tlmasonaea
The only thing I really have noticed is that it's easier to pull on a shorter hookah than a taller one. I haven't noticed anything with smoke amount/quality in my experiences.
SafeSearch
from what i hear once you exceed a certain height the smoke will start to get a little thinner because of the distance, but other than that its really personal preference.
Mark
My hookah is 26" and it smokes like a champ. My friend has a 20" egyptian smokes great too. My hookah has cooler smoke. So it's much easier to inhale. All in all it's personal preference.
Afortunado
I don't know about this for sure, but we have several hookahs. Varying in heigth from 15" to 33". We always use the 33" as it seems to be a little mellower but still full bodied and flavorful. Also we've used a variety of liquids in our base, and as with wine for instance, the taller setup was definitley perferable.

Sonthert
Size matters a little, but I look at the diameter of the shank and the length of the shank below the jar flange.
Apollo
i bring out both of my hookahs when a new lady friend comes over, the 36 inch and the 22 inch. I use this as a test, if she decides she likes the 22 inch one, then i feel a bit relieved that she likes things on the shorter side
McDarragh
I like the 30' shishas more than the small ones - not only for the cooler smoke but also for the decorative edge though if you ask me 'The sultan' is just too damn big
Apollo
i dont think i would ever get a hookah beyond 36 inches, my 30 inch old school rotator should be here on thursday, which i am very excited about, ill let u guys know how that goes

shisha fan
i have a 37 inch egyptian and before that i used to have a 20 inch one (unfortunately i broke the base), and i noticed the smoke from the 37 inch one is cooler and it is just as easy to pull smoke from and the smoke isn`t any thinner. Zerodynamic
Its basically common knowledge that hookahs 22-28 inches pull about the same... shorter than 22, you have an easier smoke, but not as cool... larger than 28, cooler smoke, but harder pull.
