SLF_1452_
A while back i was looking for different ways to flavor the water in the base of my hookah, but was finding that store bought juice and whatnot is too expensive. I tried the crystal light mix but that didnt go over too well either. What i recently started doing tho is i take about 2 teaspoons of sugar, and then take a teabag (Celestial Seasonings is the best ) and just rip it open and dump it all in and mix before i start any preparations. That way, the tea flavor can be getting mixed in the water while i light the coal and pack the bowl. Originally i would throw the teabag in there, but what usually happens when you do that is the bubbles from taking hits brings the teabag to the stem, and it will keep getting sucked into the stem, which tends to be less pleasant than you might think. The best thing about using tea is that you can coordinate flavors perfectly because you have so many choices. Peach Blossom tea with Juicy Peach tangiers, Bengal Spice with Kashmir, etc.
Johnny_D
Sounds really nice Have you tried the above with things like cherries, raspberries and strawberry shisha's ? what are they like? Also - try a cheap bottle of white wine. really makes 'berry' and grape shishas taste.JD

Victim026
If you wanna save the mess and do the teabag and then just use a rubberband to strap the teabag to the downstem below the waterline...Or you can do what I do and make hot tea with several different flavors, allow the liquid to cool, and then get some ice trays and make flavored ice cubes out of the tea. I've found this to work very well with most combinations of shisha and tea.

JoeLipinski
Another cheap way to flavor the base is to use Fago Soda. You can pick up bottles of it for about $0.50 per bottle. I dumped a bottle of the orange fago; I also had to put in some water until I got the liquid mix 1 1/2" above the bottom of the stem. I smoked some Tangiers Orange Soda with this and it made the session better. Very cool idea though.
