Starbuzz Kiwi And My Large Phunnel

Right well iv never used either and iv read some stuff on it but its hard to implement it accordingly sometimes! so just wondering if i can get some input. Well i loaded up my phunnel with the kiwi and like i didnt pack it fully to the top but it was quite full anyway and then being honest coz it was so huge i put the foil over and i didnt know where to put the holes at all. Im a virgin to all this. So i put one where the hole is and like the rest around. And the outcome was that the draw was really hard work and well there wasnt much smoke and the flavour wasnt very nice. Anyone know where im going wrong? i wanna put this story straight or else i wont get any sleep!!!

ive not used a funnel bowl yet, but from what i gather if you are not using the scalli mod, then dont put a hold in the center, but if you are using the mod, then a hole in the center wont matter.

so question is do you use the scalli mod or not?

I Fill up the tobacco to the inside funnel.. foil it... Give it a few good shakes...

Poke a ring of holes around the outside and a small ring of holes around the funnel.

I use two concentric circles, and one larger hole directly over the phunnel.

Here is how I do it, some of you might disagree or whatever but Ive tried a lot of different methods and this gives me the best possible flavor, medium-large hits, and a 2 hour-lasting bowl.

On another note, sorry for posting disgusting used/burnt tobacco, I read this thread and was in the midst of cleaning up my hookah and decided to take pics of it. The reason it didnt burn evenly was because I stopped at an hour yesterday because I had to go to work and left the coals on top.

On the last picture it shows a detailed up-close of what I did to my bowl. Before I found this forum I had ordered this bowl. The tinfoil kept getting suctioned down on to the funnel top, and I couldnt get it to work for the life of me. So i took a extremely powerful tile saw and made myself 4 even grooves. This allows the tinfoil to sag without causing to much restriction.

I start by packing the bowl. The tobacco is packed with about 1/4 of an inch below the top of the middle funnel. Probably even less than 1/4. When using the funnel I grab the juciest tobacco from the packages.

I start by poking 2 rings of holes, with one tiny hole in the middle. Then I fill in empty large gaps in the tin foil with small holes just to make sure I use all the tobacco.

I use Taqseem Stargate natural coals, 3 one inch pieces placed in a triangular formation around the funnel (NEVER PUT COAL OVER MIDDLE). The coals are rotated and shook regularly.

I have had sessions of over 2 hours with this method. It takes longer to get the tobacco heated up, but the overall flavor is worth it. You probably arent going to get humongous hits, but they are pretty good size.

I was using a 32 '' egyptian with mya washable, layalina strawberry and layalina lemon on the bottom of the bowl with a thin layer of Sinbad Sex on the Beach.

I haven't had any problems with the foil getting sucked into it. Make sure that the foil is stretched tight and you won't even need a hole in the middle. I put to rings of holes, one on the outside and then another a bit closer and it smokes like a champ for hours!
