Glass Funnel Bowl

Recommended Posts

i got my glass funnel bowl from MN and i am very pleased with it. it is very high quality and is very pretty. it is extremely smooth to smoke out of and i enjoy the experience. the only issue i have with it is that it is far too deep. it is nearly impossible to use all the tobacco when using this bowl. seeing as it is a funnel and the air doesnt get drawn through the tobac it is necassary to have the bowl shallow enough for all the tobac to be effected.

i did come up with a pretty cheesy solution for this. i made a aluminum foil snake and laid it in the bottom of the bowl to take up more room.

pics! soooorrry i didnt take the time to get out my dSLR for these shots... they were done on my cellphone and arent too good.

Hmm I will have to try that with mine, did you get the large? Cause mine (small bowl) isn't too bad. It is pretty deep, but I have gotten it to smoke all the tobacco pretty regularly. Edited by hmpitags2006

can we see a pic of the screen?
bowl looks nice btw

it does not come with a glass screen. i use foil on mine. it would be nice to have a glass screen but im not sure that the funnel design lends it self towards using a screen that is not sealed very tightly to the bowl. i think you would get too much air just going through the middle with out heating the tobac

If it is glass, would it need the foil snake because doesn't glass heat and evenly dispurse said heat?

Yes it does, but the bottom of my shisha in my bowl doesn't burn and wastes the shisha cause the top gets too burnt. I am still trying to figure mine out.

ditto

the snake helps just to keep the shisha from the bottom and closer to the heat. it works O K. not bad but im gonna try a few more things with it. im gonna try a much less dense pack. almost loose. so that air can make its way easier to the bottom. im also gonna try to wrap the outside with foil so heat is reflected back in. all this for something that should just work...... o well.

peace!

Mine (small) comes this week. I just LOVE a challenge biggrin.gif
I have big plans for my little guy smile.gif There is a mini pipe cap sitting waiting...

Just finished a baffle distribution system for my small Tangiers funnel. Uses 1.5 charcoals and seems to distribute the heat pretty well w/o moving charcoal around, just stick the mikee version of the scalli mod on, then this on top, then a 1.5" wide piece of foil around the edge to seal it all up.
Have to try it out one more time during the week & then pics if it is still doing okay.
Someone will have to try this for a longer session since I can usually only do it for about 1hr @ a time.

[quote name='hmpitags2006' post='102227' date='Feb 4 2007, 12:56 PM']I asked the scalli mod doesn't work on these bowls due to how deep they are.[/quote Edited by hookahmike

Hey everyone,

I just tried using a 2nd set of coals and the first minute it tasted burnt , but after that the flavor seems to be coming through very nicely , so try out a 2nd set of coals and im sure all the tobacco will burn.

Hope you guys like your bowls.

how high do you usually pack this type of bowl? caause even with a second set of coals after the first i still could not get all the tobac to smoke, and it didnt taste too good. not bad but not as good as when it was some fresh stuff
