high_society
there was a lot of results for coal, temp, and heat. I was thinking about the electric heater thing. My girlfriend has reptiles and they use ceramic heaters for the cages. The question I was wondering about is how hot are coals? I want to see if the ceramic heaters would work with shisha?Example of the ceramic heater if you guys dont know what they are.the one pictured is 250 watts, I think it should be pretty hot. What do you guys think??

Scheetz
I believe they are right around 300-350+ I dont think you can find a heat rock to cook that hot.
Gex
Well, heat rocks don't actually get that hot, just comfortably warm. On the other hand, the heater isn't directly exposed, and who knows what all's between it and the surface - it might be pretty dang hot. I'd still think you'd have to make some adjustments to get enough heat, though.I remember seeing a post around here where you guys were talking about electric heaters, and I thought I should throw in that I've heard that in the Mediterranean/Middle East area, where hookah smoking is extremely popular, a lot of times (most even?) electric heaters are used, so I'm pretty sure that good ones can be made.Good luck. [LB]
i know this has been suggested before, but never tried. Maybe you would like to try it and then report back to us with the results?
high_society
yeah I will have to give it a try. The item that I was showing isnt a heat rock, it is a ambiant heat source that you place above the cage. much hotter than the heat rock. it will prolly take a week or so to get the stuff properly together, I will tell you guys what happens
Lakemonster
Coals run above 420 degrees.... I have a temp gun for nitro engines that I used to get a reading on a coal.... maxed out at 420 deg... wont read any higher.

ZAP
Try using a heat gun element. I sometimes use a heat gun to quickly heat up my bowls.
