cohlineman
So my order came in today from Hookah Co.Purchase & delivery went super, no issues there. My countless hours on the internet spent studying the MYA could have been better spent researching the antics of orally fixated 20 year olds on Amateur Allure! The hookah is a gold MYA Acrilic model on a clear base, 18". It is pretty. I am torn between being happy and being bummed on a couple of things.Misconceptions I had... i was under the impression that the hookahs of theis class made in the peoples republic of wal-mart were all of a "screw-on" stem variety, not so, this one has a little ribbed silicone gasket. My whole idea behind this purchase was to try the screw-on feature out The stem is very nice, solid and heavy (looks and feels to be solid brass), but here's misconception number two...hose stems and vent valves are soldered in place, at least that is how those pesky Egyptians did it on my other hookah....not so on this one, the units look pressed in place and then finished off with a bead of silicone rtv glue! The tongs and push pin are bad ass, i must say, brass tone and very heavy, happy there. It doesn't seem to be a knock off, "MYA" is etched all over the place. So next step is to see how it smokes after i which I may forget all the misgivings and love it like my own little child. I will not get over the feeling of disillusionment over the threaded base and stem, though.Where did I miss all the fine print at??? Whodat1004
You might have a knock-off. All of what you describe matches my mya acrylic in no way.

ASUSEAN1
I don;t think ookahcompany would have knockoffs, but then again.. all the mya acrylics I have used have had a screw on stem. And besides the mini acrylic, i thought they were taller than 18". must be custom stem

I thought the mini was a 14" job.I can't attach pictures until I "ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is available". Oh well. I am sure it will be a fine little hookah. cohlineman
Hookah Company confirmed that this model is an MYA, but the threaded design is on the next size up. They are going to add this fact to the description to avoid confusion. I am happy. They have great customer service and even offered to take it back....negative, there, Hookah Co.... I have grown attached.I'll just buy another later on.

imagelessdude
I have that same hookah. I actually love the ribbed silicone grommet... and my purge valve/hose thingy are screw-in... in fact, i replaced my purge valve with an additional hose adapter. =] its little, but when its got water in it, its quite stable. And the stem... you can unscrew it... the 'caulk' is actually an o-ring. makes cleaning a breeze. You should give this hookah a chance... t'was the first one I ever got and it still smokes like a dream.
