not.plugged.in Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 so in my excitement of getting my hookah in the mail any day now i have been thinking about some good spots in my apt to smoke.pretty much anywhere will work but im a little nervous that the smoke may set off the detector (its wired in, no batteries)but while thinking of a place i began wondering how peaceful it may be to set some candles and incense around the tub and take a bath while listening to enya or something and just be smoking from the hookah next to the tubanyone else fantasize or have a special place to get away from it all? If I squint just right I can't see the mud. A glass of reisling or a wheat beer...litstening to the birds and leaves.The other is plopped on the couch with a beer or a glass of wine watching a NASCAR race. I usually smoke in my room and converse with friends about the sublime or whatever else crosses our minds.I also lug my Mya over to a friends house for parties and what not. GD is not my brother.LOL anyways some trance amybe some Dub. Anything nice and Mellow. Life is good. Hazele Nut is my useual choice to smoke while soaking. martamus Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 hey everyone i have a solution to all of the smoke detectors that are wired in the dorns and appartments. Here is what you need: Large empty cool wip container, Silicon caulking. Put the cool wip container over the smoke detector then apply the caulking to the outside of the container. Victim026 Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 I would be weary putting that Cool Whip contanier around that smoke detector. Many of the detectors in dorms and apartments that are wired in also have the ability to sense when they've been covered like that. Unfortunatley unless you take the time to track down the model number of the specific detector and look up the specs theres no way to tell whether it has this capability. Scheetz Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 I wrapped my smoke detector in a ziploc bag. Its wired in also but you can still let it hang by the wires, put it in a ziploc bag and tape it back up to the ceiling. The bag is half open so it still allows air to pass through. I did this mostly because it would go off just from opening my oven door. Terrible placement on the builders part, but what can you do about it. When in doubt, ziploc it up. We just put a piece of duck tape over the inlet hole on the detector. When we're done we take it out (when we remember to lol). It comes off real easy and goes on easy as well.
