Reviews of the new Al-Amir flavors

Recommended Posts

As promised I will be reviewing 2 of the newer Al-Amir flavors that were released several months back.

At the moment I only have the Watermelon and Sour Apple flavors from the new line, so those will be the ones I review.
However, if you have any of the other new flavors (Kiwi,
White Grape, Blackberry, Triple Apple, etc.) your reviews would be much
appreciated as well. So by all means post them in this thread if you
like.

For tonight's review I have chosen Watermelon... so... here you have it!

Al-Amir Watermelon
---------------------------

The cut of this massell is the same used in every Al-Amir
product. A finely shredded massell very much akin to that of Al-Fakher.
A few tiny stems linger about in the sea of dark red flakes drenched in
molasses, but it is still near stem free. The mixture is indeed wet, as
the bottom 1/3 of the bag is sitting in a pool of sweet sauce.

The smell of this new Al-Amir product is, well, for a lack of a
better word... wonderful. Although there are notes of watermelon
drifting about in the scent, it is predominantly that of red Hawaiian
Punch.
I kid you not people, it smells just like the red Hawaiian Punch tastes.

And now... its time to smoke...

I have smoked this massell once before in my medium Egyptian Hookah
from Hookah Shisha and found it to be severely lacking in flavor. So
this time I have decided to smoke it in my Junior Travel Hookah from
www.thehookah.com.
I find that my little travel hookah tends to make my massell a
bit stronger in the flavor department than my large one does, so it is
often better to use with more subtle flavors. So now that this has been
explained, on with the review!

When smoked, the flavor continues to be very mild. Although I find the flavor is decently stronger in my smaller hookah.
Twords the begining of the bowl the flavor is very subtle, to
the point of being difficult to notice when you exhale the smoke
through your mouth. However when exhaled through the nose you get the
distinct flavor of watermelon.

About 5 or 10 minutes into the bowl the flavor of the massell
does grow decently stronger. At this point you deffinately get a rather
light and slightly real watermelon flavor no matter how you exhale it.
Though it is still exceptionally weak compared to the flavor of other
Al-Amir flavors such as Grape, Double Apple, Peach, or Strawberry.

As far as the buzz goes... well, its pretty much par for the course.
The same sort of mild relaxing feeling that you get from the average
bowl of Al-Amir or Al-Fakher. Nothing really strong, but deffinately
not weak either.
A very peaceful level of relaxation good for an after
dinner or before bed smoke. Just a nice calming feeling that lets your
mind drift easily from one thing to another with a zen like fluidity.

So now we come to my final thoughts about this massell. Over all,
I would say I don't think this one is worth purchasing. Which I really
do hate to say, as I have loved every other Al-Amir product I have
tried.
I'm just astonished by how incredibly weak the flavor is. The
smell from the jar is phenominal, but when it comes down to the flavor
of the smoke this massell just doesnt deliver.

The flavor isnt at all offensive, but it's just not strong
enough to make this worth trying or buying again. The only thing this
massell really has going for it is it's lack of stems and it's zen like
buzz.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this massell a 4

That's the general feeling for all the new Al-Amir flavors.  I
think it was Blackberry and Pomegranate that sucked the worst.
They had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Infact all the Al-Amir
flavors that I've tried totally blew

Wow... thats a real shame to hear that youve had such bad experiances with Al-Amir.

To me it's just as good as Romman and Al-Fakher if you find the
right flavors. I highly suggest that you try Al-Amir's Double Apple,
Grape, Strawberry, and Peach.

All of those are my favorite versions of the particular flavors.
I vastly prefer Al-Amir Double Apple over Nakhla, Al-Fakher, and Romman
Apple.
I think the grape is just as good as Al-Fakher's, even though it
tastes greatly different. Al-Fakher's is this sort of white
wine/grape/current flavor where Al-Amir's is a grape bubblegum flavor.
The strawberry shines as the most realistic and wonderful tasting strawberry I have ever encountered.
And I think the peach is almost exactly the same as Romman in flavor only way less expensive.

I would reccomend those flavors as some of the best massell around.
I'll go as far as saying that if you buy them, try them, and still dont
like Al-Amir then I will buy the remainder of the jars from you!

I pay $5.99 per jar of Al-Amir at my local shop and have yet to
find a brand that gives me a better smoke for my money, even though I
do love all 3 types of  Al-Fakher as well.

I have heard of people not liking some of the premium lfavors because
it has too much flavor and thats the way they are. They like subltle
flavors. My opinion is the flavor has to be strong and it also has to
match the aroma.  I smoked some that smelled good but had a weak
flavor.

Hey Alen! It's great to be back, it really is.  I'm a little out
of practice in writing reviews so that one wasnt quite as detailed as I
usually like to make them.
But then again, I can usually go on and on about the
flavor for half a page and there really wasnt much to say about this
one.

Man does that ever bring back some memories... back when the
best quality massell I was reviewing was Nakhla and the occasional
treat of Al-Waha
Your absolutely right though, every brand has at least 1 or more
weak flavors. Even after all this Al-Amir, Al-Fakher, and Romman I
still have a few Nakhla and Al-Waha flavors I really love.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Mathazar, that makes me really happy to know that your going to give
Al-Amir another shot. It really is one of the most under rated premium
brands I think.
If your willing to give a second chance to my Al-Amir, I'm more than willing to try your HookaH HookaH

i like the al amir cherry alot. best cherry in my opinion, esp as cherry is one of my fav flavours.

I found it to have a very gritty texture, almost powdery. Also, there
were huge branches in there practically, so I am surprised it has been
described as very fine.

The taste is fantastic though, I will buy again from that brand, but will have to choose my flavour carefully :)

Great news George!

I am VERY excited to try this new line of Al-Amir! I'll be waiting anxiously for you to announce your distribution of samles.

Being a loyal Al-Amir customer it truely makes me smile to hear that
the quality of the new line will be boosted up to that of the
old.

Far out man... far out...
