buzz'd
Here is how i packed my Tangiers Blue Gum Balli had cut it up a bit, after hearing some people say it made for a better smoke, actually it may have gotten worse. I let this stuff acclimate all day!!! I really have no clue what i am doing wrong, but i was only getting thin wisps of smoke that were harsh at the back of my throat, so we stopped after 10 minutes. I loaded up some al-amir honeydew melon with the same set up, and bam thick tasty clouds, please help me!!! What could i be doing wrong, and if anyone has any pictures of how to really pack a proper phunnel with tangiers or even a video i would love them to death.i tired moving the coals around, less coal, and it was all to no avail
rattler
Ok what size Phunnel is that? I use 4 of those coals for a small Phunnel. I don't bother cutting it up...hell all I do is pile the tobacco high and put a sheet of foil on it and poke LARGE holes in circles around the edge (using a oyster fork). I doslike the the hole in the middle it doesn't seem to do anything but add non smokey air.Tangiers is easier for me to use than any other baccy. MrBubbler
i tend to want to add alot of heat at first with tangiers ( 4 japs) then back down to 2 japs after 10-15 min once that stuff is going its faitly thick and easy to manage
cypherkk
i DON'T know about anybody else, but I like to use as little heat as possible on my tangiers. Take a min or two to get it smoking right...

sdmopar
When you pulled off the foil was there burnt shisha on it? I had that problem on my first bowl. The next bowl I put less shisha as I had not packed the first bowl. Then I got reynolds heavy duty aluminum foil and folded it into four squares and wrapped up the bowl. The thicker foil took longer to heat it up but the coals were not resting on the shisha... so it works great now. buzz'd
ok so either i need more tabacco and more heat, or i need less and less heat...the experiment continues!
glz88
never smoked tangiers but sounds like a b***h to control the smoke.
xblakex
ericas right. more tobacco. not just in density, but actual amount. the main thing i changed that made tangiers start consistantly smoking well for me was packing the bowl higher, so that it was brimming over with tobacco before i put the foil on top. it always smokes fine now. ASUSEAN1
i put about the same amount of tobacco maybe even a little leaa, with two quicklights on either side and get billowing clouds that arent harsh
KiKaL
QUOTE (xblakex @ Feb 19 2007, 07:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>ericas right. more tobacco. not just in density, but actual amount. the main thing i changed that made tangiers start consistantly smoking well for me was packing the bowl higher, so that it was brimming over with tobacco before i put the foil on top. it always smokes fine now.I never understood how that could work better. I personally have always packed my funnel with tangiers just like any other bowl. IE a thumbnails length below the rim of the bowl with 1 1/2 3k coals. When ever I have had tobbaco touch the foil it has always burned and became extremely harsh. Are you doing this strictly with Tangiers or is this how you pack your bowl always? If smiley's $15 hookah comes today I will have to try your way out tonight.
DrunkenWizard
Sorry, but I didn't read everyone else's posts. I usually put more shisha and more holes. A lot more holes. Bigger ones too. Sorry if someone already said this but I didn't feel like reading that much. Good luck.
buzz'd
ok so basically i dont need to chop up the tabaccy, i just need it to be slightly overflowing on the bowl, and i need bigger and more holesi will try this and let you all know how it goes
