Mya Hose Gone Bad...dissection W/ Pics.

Recommended Posts

So after reading this discussion, I decided to take a closer look at my Qt's hose... since it's been blowing chunks and such, with red runoff.. Being the violent bastard I am, I ripped off the hose, and discovered the exact same thing as shown in the pics above.. I'll spare my pics, since they're identicle.. But I came up with a solution.

Basically, I kept the outer metal rings on the nozzles, and scaped off most of the rust, and sealed it with some melted wax... Then I bought some 5/8-3/4 inch clear vinyl hose, slid it over the outer metal bits, and tightened down some...whatever they're called hose tighteners, all available at the local hardware store. The whole thing cost me... 5 bucks.

It hits great, and the smoke is twice as smooth, probably since the wider hose allows it to cool more. It's visually pleasing too, since you can see the smoke flow through it. The only problem I have is, it makes it incredibly hard to start a bowl, I just cant seem to get enough airflow at first, but once it get's going, it's amazing. It may have worked better if I bought some smaller hose and attached it to the inner metal bit.. but I figured I'd be Spinal Tap about it and go with the big gun. It's a tad stiff, but that's no problem, it should loosen up with time. =D
