juicebox
As you can see below, my smal phunnel bowl has accumulated some sort of black substance around the sides. It looks like regular soot, but it does not wash off in water at all...almost seems like it was burned in *shrug*. Any idea what it is, and how I might be able to remove it? Zerodynamic
yeah thats def some cooked on molasses...Try soaking it first.. if that doesn't work.. boil.
Hamilton
most of the bowls I've used for more then a short smoke session tend to develop a similar crust around the edges. It's baked on tobacco and juices. I haven't found it to effect the quality of the smoke. It just doesn't look pretty but its not worth the effort to remove it. djbomberto
looks like its on the verge of cracking?
Scheetz
its just burnt molasses/tobacco/glycerin. Mine has that also. Just use a scrubbing pad on it to break it up. Also putting it in boiling water will help break it up. But its not permanent, it will scrub off.
art_official
i had that too, but boiling water and some scrubbin got most of it off
yashman19
I had my number 1 go-to bowl that I used probably 2-3 times per day, 7 days/week get the thickest buildup of gunk on it... Kinda funny too, because I rinsed the bowl and got rid of all the tobacco/junk on it after each session, so you know when your cake is that thick, you smoke way too much... I just used my dads dremal tool and grinded it off.

Smileys Ulti
I would try alchol it works pretty well. Make sure to wash it real well.Or soak it in Hot water. It will come off its only burnt sugar and depending if you smoke alot of Tangiers it also could be a build up of tar.Smiley
Oggie505
I got that on my tang wide bowl (non phunnel), and it does not affect the flavor of smoke
great glavin
thats cake.Pipe smokers actually take care to keep that on the inside of the bowl!Dont bother removing it, it doesnt change the taste.
Whodat1004
I think Scalli mentioned bowling his bowls in vinegar. Thats the best method I have come across so far for completely cleaning my bowl.

sdmopar
I use lemon juice. The citric acid does a very nice job of breaking down the caked on shisha. Thats and it gets rid of any funky smells.
azcoyote
Distilled vinegar is just as good for cleaning and cheap too. I get gallon bottles at the 99 cent store.
