Making Electric Heater For Bowl Tonight. Keep You Posted!

Recommended Posts

That sounds really cool! I hate the coal taste, even with natural coals I can taste it. I was thinking about making a custom car hookah built in the center console that would use something like that.

Good luck and post pictures when you're done.

willl you guys buy this if i make 20-30 of these,
i need to know cause i have to order some parts online to be custom made, and also the AC Adaptor,
my cost will be around 45.00 , will you guys pay 70.00 for this unit?

if i don't have too many people, i just make one for myself and few for the local hookah shop.
again, this is not being done in china, but it is being designed and few companies out there are making my molds for me.

The prototype worked perfect, but it lasted only 90 seconds before it melted.

thanks.

Hello.
THx for reply.
I am not talking about the PVC one that melted, that was just a prototype to see how much heat, and all.
It was success, so i am talking to ceramic companies and trying to see how much they charge me to make me around 100 ceramic rings with drilled holes, etc,
note that the AC Adaptor alone cost $20.00 for this puppy.
Ceramic rings since it's a low order quantity can be expensive for custom order. The final product, it will not melt, but will get hot for sure.
I will post video and pics of final product in near future, i be making one for myself
There is also a variable potentiometer to decrease / increase heat on this puppy.

I would definitely buy one of these after it was thoroughly tested and people confirm that it works at least just as well as ordinary coal. Getting hot is one thing, but I have a feeling its a lot harder to maintain a proper temperature.

Also, will you be sharing your design on the forum if you make one that works well? Maybe you can get some input and clever ideas and stuff.

Of course, i will only publish the info once i get smoke come out as good as coals.
Now remember one thing, i am designing this based on a standard bowl (3")
in the picture you see 5 lines of wire, in the actual one i am thinking to put 7-8 + the addition of the variable heat valve.

I am sure you guys will buy this puppy once i get it down. I am guestimating at least by end of next week to have it done.

I am doing this so we can all have healthy smoke sessions.

I'll be one of your first customers! Put me on a list if you ever create one, for the people who will be first in line for this! Man, this has amazing potential...and I'm very excited to potentially never have to buy anymore coals!

You should send one to a respected member on the board once its ready. Send one to like smiley or something like that, and have that person write a review and let everyone know how it works. Im sure it will sell like crazy if we hear how well it works from someone we really trust. I know I'll be one of the first to buy one if it works well. tongue.gif

I'd definately be in on this one, if you can make it look all pretty. If it looks exactly like that pix u showed, with random wires and crap, maybe id buy one but not for 70. if you can make it look good, i'd get it.

also, when drawing smoke, would these be able to maintain heat? if you blow air on those toaster spokes they stop generating heat, have u tested this prototype in terms of air being rapidly moved around it?

No I have not, that is why i have all the tools and electrical knowledge behind this. the prototype burned and melted in 30 seconds and springs started to come off.
I am having some custom ceramics being made for this week. I don't know how much they will charge.
As for the final product, it will look all professional (not like if it was made in china), but be nice enough you can show off to friends.
as for drawing air through those wires, i have not tested it yet, since it melted very quickly. I have different gauges of heating wires and i will test each one to see which one has more heat output and can last longer without failing.
Finally putting that Electrical engineering degree to some use.

I'd really like to see this with a variable heat knob. Something that can turn the heat up or down. I THINK you mentioned that somewhere above, but I'm not sure.

And screw what my friends think of its looks. If its functional and works great, thats all that matters smile.gif

I agree with Yash. And good for you putting your degree to use. I too am interested in this, instead of lighting up coal after coal after coal for Tang's phunnul, I can just use one device.....

Go for it.

my goal is to come up with a 3" ring, but the acutual wires will be as close to 2 kings coals.
once the tobacco gets going, you can turn down the heat.
tonight i have made a 4" ring out of concrete, (until i get my ceramics made by the company in WI).
I just can't wait to get some heat going and test it out.

will keep you posted on tonights prototype. if it does not dry solid, i will post pics tomorrow.
