Hookah (hubbly) Newbie

Recommended Posts

Hey all ! Great site.ive learnt quite a bit from this place already wink.gif

Im from South Africa and have had my Hookah (as we call it hubbly here) for 2 months.
Here he is below laugh.gif

Cost me around 20 dollars for a 2 pipe and a flavour and coal packet (decent?)

Here in South Africa the name brands ive seen so far are :

1.Afzal - pretty decent so far
2.Al - Waha - popular i think....is good
3.El Basha - ohmy.gif was not good.ugly grape taste

i saw today at the my local market a flavour called 'Soex'....what the heck is that? it was also
abit more costly.

Ive been loving my hookah. But now i wanna know a few things smile.gif
Sometimes the shisha me and my buddies smoke burns way too quickly...is this from packing it too close to
the foil ?
Also i put a can over the bowl sometimes and it REALLY makes a difference in thickness.I do think heat as mostly everything to do with thickness rolleyes.gif
But now how the hell did this guy get it this THICK???

WOW!

another thing.i saw today at the market bigger bowls...twice the size of the average one.will these make any difference on anything???

overall im pretty pleased with my setup.

Just saying i love hookah and i like this forum

Cheers
Matt

Hello Matt Welcome to the forum. Erm regarding your queries i think it depends on the quality of your tobacco and a small bowl will always burn up quicker than a bigger one, it also depends on what coals you use and how many you use. Many factors. Perfecting the art of smoking hookah is vast and wide, some will say jus pinch it put it and plop the coals on top and smoke, others will take care n pride in what they do. It depends how you feel about it. But iv watched the vid about the fella there and all hes done there is hes put loadsa glycerine in his tobacco by the looks of it. Add glycerine to ur baccy leave for a few ours n smoke, should be rip thick. All that you see is vaporised glycerine!

Is it [glycerin] sold at the grocery store/supermarket? That would be bitchin'.

SoEX is herbal. I'm not gonna hate on it, I've smoked it once, and I think mine was rly dry... good flavor, but not as thick smoke. I'm getting a free SoEX sample, so I'll be sure to review it.

I heard from someone it is sugar cane in molasses? Smells good though.

I prefer good ol' fashioned shisha. Edited by imagelessdude

People here will tell you to NEVER use a barbecue coal for hookah, supposedly they give off too much carbon monoxide that leads to bad things. If you can only get quicklites locally, you'd have to order some natural wood coals from somewhere else. Or you can start a campfire and use coals out of it.
