SafeSearchOff
Coal temp, bowl, ice. I think thats pretty much the deciding factors.
mushrat
I disagree on the ice, but heat is smoke...I can get clouds out of any shisha once i get the temp right..

Scheetz
heat and hookah. There is a noticeable difference in smoke amounts between my Fatuta hookah and a QT. The vase design helps as the more smoke it can hold (to an extent) the more you will have per inhale. heat also is a factor, because when you hit that mark it will smoke like a champ. DrShisha
Glycerine content is also a factor! Dry tobacco aint gonna give you much, just a burnt bowl, no matter what, temp n coals go out window.

I can make nakhla and hookah hookah smoke great and they are very dry tobaccos. Even though they taste horrible, it will still smoke great. SafeSearchOff
I don't know about any one else, but when I add ice or pre-freeze my base, it seems I can get much more smoke...?
Macho555
I used to think ice made more smoke, but after I changed my mind. I don't think the juicier the tobacco makes much of a difference either...I can make pretty much anything make a great smoke, but I notice that dryer tobaccos make it happen easier. I'm just going to have to say its all heat and hookah.
DizzyGuy
First you have to hop around on one leg screaming like a chicken would at a llama... then do two and a half backflips and land in a stall on your head... then run 3 miles with a glass of water with out a drop leaving the cup. Pretty much I think it usually involves with using enough heat to throughly cook the shisha without burning it. I don't think ice has any effect because I've gotten just at thick sessions with no ice.
Apollo
is it possible to smoke a bowl and not have any of the shisha turn black and burnt looking... ive never dont it, i never notice a burnt taste really but ive never had the shisha not turn black and burnt lookin i use quik lites, if that has anything to do with it Edited February 26, 2007 by Apollo
jhansengranger
Personally, I think the biggest factor is making sure there are no air leaks in the hookah. If all grommits are perfect, and all seals are nice, it makes such a huge difference. Other than that, its all in the heat applied to the shisha, using less coals and taking your time to heat it up seems to be much more affective than just dropping on a bunch of coals if its not hitting enough right when you start it. So if you want to keep it the color it was when placed in the bowl, then dont smoke your bowl is done when all the shisha has been blackened.
