wyteboy
read this on hookahculture and it sort of made me realize some things...based on how little research there is out there, I thought people could research like 50 years from now and realize how dumb people were for smoking on top of aluminum foil.....I would prefer to smoke with the absolute LEAST bad chemicals out there...do people have problems getting really good smoking sessions with screens? Input on this would be appreciated.... Many people suggest using punctured foil on top of your bowl underneath the coals. DID YOU KNOW THAT [b]EXCESSIVE ALUMINUM IN THE BODY CAUSES ALZHEIMER'S? Smoking from household aluminum isn't good for you anyway, there are also bonding agents that give off fumes. Don't be afraid with OCCASIONAL smoking, but don't make it a habit; don't use household foil on your personal hookah. There is foil available made especially for hookahs, or use a screen meant for hookahs. The latter is recommended, but your bowl will last much longer with foils if the holes are done correctly. Ashan, if you're on hit me on AIM.
linkdead
Whenever I used the screen, I burned the tobacco, as the holes are too large imo. I'll probably make a home-made screen by drilling a holes through a thin sheet of metal. Don't know about aluminium, and how much you actually inhale it. From my limited chemistry knowledge, I think that when heating metal, no gas of any kind if released from the metal itself. So by heating aluminum, in the end you get liquid aluminium. Not sure if foils we use have any kind of chemical coating that would release toxic fumes while heated to a certain temperature, but for pure aluminum, I think now. I might be wrong though ... chemistry was never my thing in school
cypress
Yes excessive aluminum in the body causes Alzhiemers. I am not an expert on this but i would say that it would have the same affect as cooking with foil as it would if you use it on the head while smoking. I guess if we can find the temperature at which aluminum reacts then we can be more precise as to what is happening when there is a coal on top of it. Even the the foil ment for hookah smoking is still aliminum. I dont think there is that big of a risk because how many Arabic people are suffering from Alzheimers? Havent they been smoking the hookah for decades? Which ever is the case there needs to be more research on this.
Highpockets
There is no scientific evidence linking Alzheimer's to aluminum. http://www.sciam.com/askexpert_question.cf...?articleID=0000 FCD2-AA88-1C71-9EB7809EC588F2D7&ref=sciam The consensus is that this is just a big myth, and if it has any role in the development of ALzheimer's, it would be a very small one. dmitri926
in anycase household aluminum has chemical agents on it which you inhale...im planning to make coal holder out of the top of a tincan and punch little holes into it.
