wyteboy
So I know this has been covered before, but I thought I would do it one more time! Basically I want to know when I get more $$ and want to buy more "premium" stuff, what of each brand to buy...Keep in mind I want more TASTE than buzz or strong tobacco flavor...Also, I don't know if any of you have experienced this but every time I have ever smoked peach I get naseous and I also don't like licorice so that may rule out some double apple flavors?. My favorites up til now have been apricot, pineapple, raspberry, watermelon... zoojohnny's list: Al Fakher - Grape, Strawberry, and Golden Seal Eskandaraini Apple Romman - Peach (maybe I would give this one a try?) Al-Amir - Strawberry, Grape, Double Apple, and Peach Nakhla - Apple, Mint, and Double Apple Al-Waha - 5 Star Mix, Honey, Cola, Cherry, Pineapple So what do YOU think I should get from these brands? Thanks again johnny a ton for that list of your preferences!!
wyteboy
when I said "strong tobacco flavor" I meant I want as little tobacco flavor as possible but strong/good fruit/flavor taste...just wanted to clarify for recommendations
Mathazar
Al-Fakher: Cappuccino, Coconut, and Cola. Hookah-Hookah: Margarita, Pineapple, Grape, and Melon (Melon being their BEST). Romman: Strawberry, Orange, Lemon, and Peach. If you mix a 50/50 combination of Romman Lemon to Hookah-Hookah Margarita, you'll have an EXCELLENT Lemon/Lime Combo
NERV
al waha is basicly on the same level as nakhla and weaker in the flavor department, personally i tihnk romman is weak also, same company as al waha supposedly, but ive heard good tihnks about al fakher and hookah-hookah, as for al amir, while it is very good quality tobacco and has very good flavors, the flavors are so weak they probably arent worth the money, for premium flavors i would check out al fakher and hookah-hookah
wyteboy
Thanks guys keep it coming! I wonder how some ppl think Romman's flavors are great and others think they are plain/weak....interesting. I have never smoke cola or cappucino flavor...sounds sort of weird to me like SMOKING coffee or Coke, LOL... mathazar, does the margarita flavor taste like tequila or it tastes like the sweet-sour stuff? lol what brands do you think has the best raspberry? other good ones you like from al-fakher besides those 3 as I might not really like the cappucino or cola but would prob like the coconut a ton! what has good watermelon....? the hookah hookah melon is more like cantaloupe I presume? Thanks to others in advance who post their faves from each brand, this will really help me later!
Mathazar
Not all the Hookah-Hookah flavors are good, only the ones I mentioned. But within the next few months, Hookah-Hookah will have out 20 new flavors. Kiwi and Orange will be the first two to arrive on the scene. Call the company and talk to Jonothan, as he seems to be the most informed Customer Service rep down there. Ask them which flavors they'll be coming out with. I just got off the phone a couple days ago with Sami Romman over at Hookah-Shisha, and he told me that within the coming year they expect to have around 30 new flavors available, approx 50 flavors in all
Mathazar
The Margarita smells like Tequila & Lime, but all you taste is the Lime. I think it's great, while cypress didn't seem to like that one at all. I've been smoking the Margarita for a few months now and love it. Yes, the H-H Melon does taste like Cantalope, but it's a VERY accurate flavor. Fumari has the BEST Watermelon around right now. It really is great tasting, but I find the tobacco to be way to harsh for my throat. I find myself coughing soon after the first few puffs. H-H will be releasing Watermelon within the coming weeks or months, and since their tobacco is the smoothest I've smoked next to AF, I'll definitely be waiting for that flavor to come out. Like I said, call Hookah-Hookah, ask for Jonothan, and inquire with him as to which flavors are going to be available in the near future
wyteboy
well probably silly to call and inquire since I can't buy any of it real soon but thanks for the insider info! I'll wait to hear your reviews of it and then maybe call if I want to purchase some. thanks again! btw, thanks for the real description...i have a real sensitive throat to harsh smoke since i rarely smoke ever so if something is good tasting but really harsh, I won't be able to smoke it at all. what is real good raspberry that you have smoked? Mathazar
Sorry man, I haven't been able to find any really good Raspberry, though I wish I could
wyteboy
no prob man, thanks! still waiting for cypress and ashan to chime in on their faves from each brand or ones they'll think I like, I KNOW they have some I can't believe I JUST stumbled on this forum lol...seems I'm already hooked! btw, to solve the ash/coal problem on the carpet, I went to Home Depot today and bought a 2.5ft by 3ft doormat and will turn it upside and place the hookah in the middle of the rubber side of the mat. Figure if a coal falls, it may smell bad but it won't instantly ignite or burn through the rubber like it would do to my carpet...silly to pay less than $40 for a small hookah and then have to pay 1000+ to re-carper my whole apt when I want to move out...hoping the mat thing works... NERV
in refrence to your cola cappucino question, theyre good, i got a fresh box of cappucino right now, think about that, coffee is a bean, so why is smoking the flavor any weirder than dirnking it? personally i love coffee beans but the texture is gritty, and i hate the drink, but i love the smoke i also like cola, it has a cool flavor, even gives you the sensation of the bubbles in your throat, not exactly, but pretty damn close, its really neat
cypress
AF cola is great. Think cola icee but not quite as sweet.
Mathazar
It's going to cost me upwards of $1200 to replace my carpet. Fortunately the property manager hasn't seen the damage yet, or he'd probably have evicted me by now. I have a couple of those burn spots that went right thru the rubber, and it scared the HELL out of me because with the air under the carpet and all that rubber, I could have easily started my whole apt on fire just from that damn rubber under the carpet. Trust me, I just about laid a brick in my pants when I saw that thing smoking and falling deeper into the carpet
NERV
thats why the wind screen is your friend, and a nic elong hose so it dont fall over, and a coal lighitng chamber to aovid explosives
Mathazar
"explosives" I've had more than my share of those with Golden Coals. Though Golden Coals are the best quick-lite, imo, they do explode every so often. My carpet is proof of that. Fortunately my insurance will be picking-up the tab for the new carpet, but I have a feeling my manager is going to give me an ultimatum once he sees the carpet: "Quit Smoking or Get Out" I've had these smoking conversations with him before as a result of my cigars habit. Now, just last night, my next door neighbor complained of seeing smoke or a mist lingering in the air, and the first door my manager knocks on at 12:30am is MINE! I've already been told to smoke my cigars on the patio, but the reason I got the hookah was so that I wouldn't have to smoke on the patio. I spent all winter smoking hundreds of bowls inside next to my computer, and nobody complained even once. Goddamn new neighbors!
wyteboy
so are you guys saying the rubber doormat idea is really bad??? I absolutely could not afford to replace my carpet and I thought putting an 18in hookah in the middle of a 2.5X3 ft rubber mat would almost 100 percent ensure that if the coal fell it would fall onto the mat and not onto the floor...how far off the hookah could it fall.... wyteboy
cypress besides the AF cola, what are your fave flavors from each of those brands?
wyteboy
was looking online and just curious what the difference in taste/flavor is of eskendahri (sp?) apple and bahrani apple? any others help on what flavors they like best from what brands would be much appreciated!
Mathazar
Eskandarani Apple tastes something along the lines of Sour Apple and Bahraini Apple tastes like licorice. Yes, I think putting your hookah on a rubber mat is a HORRIBLE idea. Melting rubber can start a fire just as easily as the rubber under your carpet. And besides, if you have renter's insurance, such as State Farm, then you're only liable for your deductable if you have fire insurance. My fire insurance, after the 250 deductable, is going to cover the whole carpet. Your best bet, after getting some good Renter's Insurance, would simply be to light all your coal in the kitchen sink, carry it over to your hookah in a container of some type, and place your hookah on the table next to your computer system. The only place your coals are going to fall is in the ash pan, unless your coals explode and that usually only happens when you're lighting them. The heat causes them to internally combust. wyteboy, dude, take everyone's advice and buy 50gram sampler packs of all the flavors you want to try. Unfortunately, at this point in time, Hookah-Hookah doesn't offer sampler packs. But I'm certain you would be happy with the flavors I mentioned: Margarita, Pineapple, Grape, and Melon. cypress really liked the Strawberry and Menthol. Stay away from the Hazelnut, Apple, and Cherry.
NERV
1, rubber mat = bad, those fumes be toxic 2 dont forget these coals are round, they can roll, asusming ur using quicklights i actually wrote an essay on quicklight coal safety, i mean dont be overly paranoid, unless you have other ppl smoke and the hose is getting passed aorund chances are the coal wont get knocked off, but the best thing to do is have a coal tray and wind screen, if the hookah gets jostled, the coal will hit the windscreen wall and fall into the tray, if the hookah falls over, it should be fine inside the windscreen., personally i have a few precaustions for coals 1, i have a lighting chambe ri made out of a soda can and paper clips, to make a grill for it to sit on, nothing more than 1 or 2 tiny sparks can get out of that 2, i press it onto the foil a little bit so the foil shapes to the coal slightly, less of a chance of it moving 3, i have a sleeve that actually fits onto my bowl to creat a little wall around it 4, i have the coal tray 5, windscreen 6, i have an 8 foot hose so the chances of the hose getting pulled enoguh to knock anything over is almost nil also, total no brainer, make sure its on a flat surface, thats another reason a mat would be bad, coushy surface makes it tedious, like math said, nice flat table if you dont have a solid floor, i have my hookah on a 40 pound marble slab which is the base for my lamp
wyteboy
Thanks a ton mathazar and nerv...I was thinking it would work because the mat is a flat surface and it would instantly begin to light or get a hole in it like my carper would but I think you both have convinced me I could use my wood coffee table and it might be better than the rubber mat I bought... I don't have a windscreen, I heard it concentrates the heat way too much and you easily burn the maessel but I may look into one anyway. Unfortunately I have a huge paranoia of CC online since I was a victim of big time fraud awhile so I am waiting to order online, especially cause I have 4 250g boxes of nahkla strawberry, alwaha 5-star mix, apricot and coconut to work through (or decide I don't like) before it makes sense to spend $$ and buy AF or HH. I really appreciate your advice. my table is definitely flat and pretty wide, I just figured a coal would roll off easily and onto the floor, but I guess you're right if the coal falls it will just fall into the tray....Thanks again!!! wyteboy
I meant *WOULDN'T instantly begin to light...but yeah.
NERV
any local places by you? my local places sell full hookahs and parts, including windscreens, if you are afraid of online cc, alot of places take money order, but obviously it will take longer
wyteboy
nope I live in a crappy place, Bristol, CT. Do not EVER move here. Especially if you were born and raised your entire life in LOS ANGELES!!! I moved for a job...I did find a place about 30 mins away but they have a very very limited selection of things...I think I will be very safe smoking it on my coffee table, but part of me is still paranoid because I absolutely cannot afford to burn my carpet but I also don't want to always have to smoke outside... The websites that sell AF or HH will take MO as well? Thanks nerv, you da man
NERV
they should all take MO, call and ask, phone ordering is much better than the anonymous online forms anyway
