watson.amw
So I just received my first order of tangiers (raspberry) and a phunnel bowl. i want to smoke it so badly but all i can do is sit and watch it acclimate. *sigh*I opened the package at 3 and I'm planning on lighting up at 8, is this enough time? Also do I need to stir it before or after letting it sit? Thanks guys.
Twang
A couple hours will usually suffice. Stir it up occasionally during acclimation if you want, and again before you pack it (get all those juices distributed). Also you can just take out a bowls worth if you want, it will usually acclimate faster.
aronparsons
I stir Tangiers up after transferring it to its Gladware container, then let it sit for just a couple of hours (mainly to let it warm up to room temperature). Then give it a stir before you smoke it, just like you should with any tobacco (mix those juices up!). Start out with less heat than you think you should and build up until you're getting the amount of smoke you want; less heat is better than too much. Good luck. skiracerj1
5 hours should be enough, and I usually like to stir periodically during the acclimation, and then one final stir before i put it in the bowl, also if your really eager you can try and smoke it without acclimating it, I've had about 50/50 results doing that. watson.amw
Good point on taking out a bowls worth. Thanks for the advice guys.
cymptom
The amount of time it takes really varies. Sometimes it smokes fine right out of the package, but I've also had it take up to a week or two to really mellow out and for the flavor to come through. Don't mean to be a downer, and I might be alone in this experience. I still say give it a shot tonight

jordanneff
This may sound n00bish but are you supposed to acclimate all shisha? If so why wasn't I told this! haha But seriously, now I'm confused. Or is this a tangiers specific step?

Some more experienced smokers like to do it because of the climate changes and stuff. Humdity shock can make or break a good hookah session.A lot of people like to acclimate tangiers, as its tobbaco that is not for the novice smoker. Sonthert (aka Eric) posted instructions on how to properly smoke tangiers, and he told us that he doesn't acclimate.
EvansLight
You only need to aclimate when first getting the tobacco, and any time it changes to a really different temp/humidity. For the most part i don't, unless it tangiers. Some of my best smokes have been taking Al Waha from in my house, to outside on a really humid day and smoking right away
Johnny_D
I now allways acclimiate tobacco. Even with layalina. I had some cherry and just *had* to try it the moment it landed. Smoked like old socks.Couple of hours later i packed another bowl of it and it was totally different. So Each time i open a newbox of tobacco i allways open it a few hours before i actually want to smoke it.Good luck!JD
