KillZedKill
I have an advanced ceramics class at school, I was pondering making my own bowls. However, I would need to pass it off as something else, like, an insense burner or something. Any other ideas of what I could say it is?
web250
A bowl for tobacco. That's pretty harmless, no?
ZAP
candle holder?
mgcsinc
I'd go with something cooking-related. Like maybe say that you use it like a mortar and pestle, but it allows you to extract juice (hence the holes). This could be pretty believable, especially if (a.) your teacher/prof has never seen a hookah, and (b.) you actually make the pestle to go with it. DownZero
Is this a class for high school or college? I can't imagine a college course caring what you make if it's for legal use... high school is a completly different story though... I would probably go with an incense holder/burner. The instant light coals are usually referred to as incense burners so why can't the bowl be an incense holder.
samildanach
incence stick holder? would explain the holes...or if ur gonna make a phunnel type bowl, a 2 in 1 oil burner/candle stick holder
Allia22
Known pot-heads in my art class were making bongs... can't imagine you'd get into much trouble for making something for smoking tobacco even if you are a young'n. I feel old now >.<
Luke69
I had the same problem. I'm in high school so it mgiht be a bit different. I just said it was something that my grandma wanted me to make for her garden. I made two phunnell bowls.

If they get the slightest feeling it has something to do with smoking anything, you get in big trouble.

VDDZ
An ash tray? That's all I could ever make correctly...I like the mortar idea, the holes could be to collect the finely ground herbs...that doesnt sound all good...
benmandude
It all depends upon your teacher I suppose. If they are chill and seem like they wouldn't mind, I would just make it. If not then make up something like the mortar and pestle.

Allia22
Oh, forgot to mention: make sure the glaze you use for this is safe for food/smoking. There's this glaze we had called "pewter," looked a lot like metal when you were done with it, but it contained lead.
KillZedKill
Yea, most gunmetal, pewter, or cobalt blue glazes contain led or other chemicals. Since this is a high school class, I have to be careful about making things, so I guess that an insense burner is my best bet.
