It looks very appealing as a first hookah package, however I'm trying to stick with Mya. It looks like a Mya, but is it?

Thank you.

I don't believe it's a Mya, but I don't think buying a Mya should really be your main concern either, I'm not saying they're bad or anything like that, I'm just saying it's not like they're the only good hookahs you can get. Either way, the one there looks sturdy and functional and I've heard people have had good experiences with that site - in fact all hookahforum members get a 15% discount from that website, so if you like that one I'd say go for it man.

I hear ya jordan.. the only thing I'm worried about is quality on anything other than Mya. I've smoked a few Myas and I really like the amount and quality of the smoke produced... it seems pretty consistent among their products. If the one I linked to is just some random generic hookah I'd be a bit concerned.

I'm thinking of just going with my original plan on getting the QT... quick question how come the stem used on all the QTs on third-party resellers appears different than the one pictured on Mya's website?

Thanks guys.

Ah, well I haven't heard anyone complain about their Mya QT's so good choice.

And regarding your question about the stems on the QT's, my guess is - and this is totally just an uneducated stab in the dark - but my guess is that either the 3rd party sellers order the Mya QT bases in bulk and put their own stems on (because, as I believe Mya is known for their glass work) so it'd only make sense that the 3rd party sellers would order bulk stems from somewhere else. The only other thing I can think of is that maybe Mya has recently changed the stems they put on their QT's and the 3rd party sellers haven't had a chance to change their pictures yet or simply didn't realize.

Those are my best guesses, hope they help.

I wouldn't freak out so much regarding the quality of other hookahs vs a Mya. Really, truly, Myas are not the best. They LOOK beautiful, but I've gotten much better smokes from my Social Smoke Egyptian, and even my $15 Smiley hookah. At this point I would maybe buy a Mya to put on display, but for day to day smoking, give me a regular hookah any day. Social Smoke Egyptians are fantastic quality wise, and Hookah Company now has a couple of Khalil Mamoun hookahs in stock which are also supposed to be very nice. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't get hung up on the whole Mya thing. They are just an average (and kinda overrated) machine, IMHO. I really believe if they didn't look as nice as they do, people wouldn't get half as excited as they do about them.

there are three different class stems. the s class is on the mya website.

i have the e class- it has three small humps

the original one has one big hump in the middle

they all work the same so you should be fine.

I'll have to add my support to what ioannisds said -- Mya quality is a mere veneer if you ask me. I have plenty of complaints about the QT, my Mya Bohemian, and the other Mya hookah's I've used. They do look nice... I guess... unsure.gif but I find that in terms of performance they just don't compare to Egyptians or Syrians.

You said you're worried about the quality on anything other than Mya and I know how you feel -- with most other hookahs, shopping online can really be a gamble. However, there are some Egyptian hookah manufacturers well known for quality, namely Social Smoke and Khalil Mamoun (just released at hookahcompany.com.) I just ordered the Khalil Mamoun Amer and plan to review it once it gets here biggrin.gif

I guess I forgot to mention... this will be my first, so I don't have any of the other needed accessories.. coals, shisha, etc. I'd prefer to get it all at one place so I don't pay multiple shipping costs, etc. I'd also prefer a package deal. Any other places perhaps?
