Milk In Base...

So yeah, I decided to put some milk in the base today, not all milk but like 2 parts water 1 part milk. I heard it gives some thicker smoke (which I didn't notice anyhow) but after about 15-20 minutes in the milk bubbled so much that it actually started to bubble up into the hose and I got small milk droplets in my mouth when I inhaled (bleh!) . I took the house out and tried getting all the milk out and even after I did, another 5 or 6 hits in I got more milk in my mouth (and nasty burnt charcoal tasting milk too!). I never had a problem with good old water and my coals were going fine, anyone know what the problem is? Or is it just the milk itself?

using coconut milk is better...but regular milk bubbles...alot

dont put so much milk in. u really only need to put in like a small bottle cap full.

Just a bottlecap? Damn lol. Well I'll have to do that then. I pretty much just scrapped that session and was planning on continuing it whenever I found out how to do it right without bubbling, so thx. Now I can get back to business

When using milk use a diffuser so you dont disrupt the liquid so much. im STILL trying to make one of my own

Too much milk in the base will definately ruin a sesh, whether its coconut milk or regular. I had so many problems with milk getting in the hose when I smoked out of the QT i swore off off it. When I use it in a big egyptian there is less margin of error.

Wouldn't a diffuser make more bubbles, meaning more milk bubbles, meaning the milk would get into the hose faster? haha

But yeah, I think I should be okay for now. I just put way too much milk in, so next time I do it I'll only put in a little bit. My hookah isn't really small, but it's not a large or huge one either so I just have to be careful about how much I put in there.

I use like 1 part milk and 5 parts water..... lly works great!! YOu just have to watch to make sure bubbles arent creeping up to the hose!

I've never had any trouble with filling the whole base with milk or anyhting like that. You probably overfilled it.

It tastes so good, so silky smooth hahaha.

i had milk in the base last night, did it like 1 part milk 3 parts water and it was great. Not as much harshness to the smoke (sometimes it makes the back of my throat real scratchy.... i have to drink alot when i make a hookah, i dunno. ) does that happen to anyone else? - the hookah isn't harsh at all by anymeans, just scratchy on my throat

im smoking right now with milk and it does bubble up like CRAZY.. but if you use a butteryfly valve the milk wont make it past there and hanst given me any problems and it smooths everything out and is REALLY REALLY REALLLLLLLY delicious.

you know, if its bubbling you're adding too much milk. There should be minimal bubbling if properly done. I however, don't use milk as I have had too many bad experiences with lazy friends leaving it in far too long. So Im happy with just normal hooks.

Woo, I forgot and left peach/white grape juice in the base of My Little Friend for about 3 weeks... There was a 1/2" thick hard blob of grey-green mold floating on top. I'm carrying this foul-smelling base around going "Mom, lookit this!" and laughing because I felt like a complete idiot, she just says "If it's still green, you can probably just throw it in the dishwasher... If it turns pink, you're in trouble." So... yeah, I don't know how she's attained this knowledge of mold, but I threw it all in the dishwasher and it came out good as new. I don't think I'll be lazy like that again, even though it was a cool experiment XD

I was skeptical but I have to admit this works. Just now put a half shot glass of milk in my Egyptian rotator and it tastes better, smoother flavor. I added it mid bowl. I now have to figure out why this works. It's like magic.

Yea I havent tried this yet, im not a big milk fan but hey whatever gotta see if it really works. Ive also been trying to figure out why it would make thicker smoother smoke. I was thinking maybe since the milk is thicked than water you have to pull harder to get smoke out and it builds up more smoke so you get more in the vase. But I dont know, I just kind of thought that up.

Hey, tried milk in there again today, and a cap full is perfect. It hardly made milk bubbles in the base and made the smoke smoother and a lot thicker than I've had it with other attempts! I'll post some pics in the picture megathread if you want to check em out

yea i had milk in mouth happen b4, not very pleasent! at the right level it works out great but personally id prefer sum vodka in the base or wine for that xtra kick.
