I will discuss it with the other mods but since its got to be THIS clear, Im going to suggest an increase in the ban time for not following the rules. I never want to ride in one, let along own another one, and I don't think i'd work up a good piss to help put one out. But thanks for the support again, I'm just the hatchet man here..It's the mods as a whole that make decisions like this, so if you are going to give the thumbs up to someone, make it the Mod Squad. mushrat Posted March 9, 2007 Author Share Posted March 9, 2007 I personally owned a 1973 pop top vw camper van. I spent all my money and a lot of other people's money trying to keep it running. I went through 3 engines, 2 of which i had to install myself. The heater boxes disappeared when I had the "professional" do the job.The carbs sucked and had to be replaced with a weber progressive 2bbl that would lift the front end off the ground when the gas finally made it to the heads coming down the 3 foot pipes. It rattled, the feul pump had to be replaced in a snow storm, 1 top end rebuild in feb in the snow, push tubes that wouldn't seat. And its an air cooled engine made of aluminum and magnesium (which burn HOT and fast once started) with the gas lines running over the top of it......burn baby burn...Though now a street legal rail buggie is in my future...someday. The carbs are NOT designed to safe gas..not is the engine particularly effiecient.But you can rebuild one in your garage with very few specialty tools.
