HookahTheDude
I bought a hookah not too long ago, maybe two months now, but I only smoke it about once a week. Previous to buying it I only went to hookah cafes locally, so obviously I didn't have any idea how to prepare my own hookah. I've read a few topics though I just registered a few minutes ago and I noticed people talking about spacing out the coal to burn all of the tobacco. I was wondering if what I do to prepare my hookah is getting me the most out of my tobacco (haven't payed attention once I finish and clean it), or if there's a better/easier/quicker way to prepare. I know that how I prepare it is effective, I was just curious if there's a better way. Here's what I do:1. Fill the bowl, leaving a bit of space between the top and tobacco.2. Put a piece of tin foil over the bowl.3. Poke a lot of holes in the foil.4. Fold up another piece of foil into a ring and place it on top of the foil over the tobacco.5. Put another piece of foil over the ring.6. Poke a 4x4 square of holes using a fork into the top layer of foil.7. Put the coal on top. What I'm curious about is step 4-6, is it necessary? A friend of mine who smokes hookah a bit more regularly said he didn't think anything was wrong with how I prepared it, but I'm not so sure if I should listen to him because he's never prepared one either. If you prepare a hookah differently, feel free to share it, I'm up for suggestions.Thanks.
sambookamax
I've actually been meaning to try the way you mentioned above...sounds like a great way to minimize burning the shisha...How ate the clouds with this method? Do you burn the shisha at all? How about falvor/taste...does it last long?
nuschultz
I don't think its necessary. But if it works for you, do it up!

I haven't payed attention once I'm done, usually just peal the foil off, dump the shisha into it and throw it away. The flavor is good I think, however for my personal tastes it could be a bit stronger though I don't know if that's the kind of shisha I got or not. For reference, when I bought the hookah it came with a 50g free of Al Amir, and I chose Mixed Fruit since it seemed to be a general flavor. I've been looking for some more though since I'm running out. Any suggestions?

I am still looking for some others to try, that are "must haves" not having much luck...but if I come across any, I will let you know..
Mr. Hookah
ive tried that method before and it really didnt work for me but i did improvise. Same exact thing with wrapping the tinfoil around the bowl and poke holes. Then you put the tinfoil ring in like you did. Now instead of putting another layer of tinfoil on top of everything you put one cole in the center of the ring. Then you make a makeshift wind cover with another piece of foilo and poke one large hole in the top. I couldnt see the person sitting next to me there was so much smoke lol. HookahTheDude
Ohh... I'll try that next time, thanks for the idea. Will have to wait a bit until I do though which isn't so bad since I don't smoke it that often, ordered ten different kinds/flavors (two of those five medly packs) of tobacco and 20 coals today because it was cheaper than going to the local hookah shop/cafe. $1.29 for ten coals online, or $10 for ten coals down the road... hmm. Didn't realize at the time I got so ripped off haha, oh well. Thanks for the suggestion of tobacco too sambookamax, one of the ten flavors I ordered was the After Nine. I was a bit skeptical because I've smoked mint at the hookah cafe nearby and hated it (I don't like mint at all, really, spearmint is okay) but I do like those chocolate-mint candies lol, so decided to see what was up. sambookamax
I always break out the After Nine for the newbies that come to my house to smoke...and they all love it! I don't think anybody has said they didn't yet! Good stuff!Oh, so I tried your method listed above, and it worked out pretty good, I had some crappy shisha I am trying to use up...was havanna strawberry and using the method above, I didn't burn the shisha, flavor lasted for about 30 minutes, before losing a majority of the flavor...but kept smoking for a while! Went through three quicklites, because of the space between the two layers of foil, I didn't have to break them apart to control the heat...will definitely try this method again...with another crap flavor...to see if I can get some good flavor outta it... HAHkoo
so far this pretty much sounds like it works. Can somebody please post pics of how someone might go about doing this?
