Romman Coals

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a bad bag of Romman coals? I tried my first bag this week and the chunks varied in size from tree trunks to unusable chips, and there seemed to be an unusually large percentage of chips. Also, they kicked off tons of smoke when lit them. My wife's allergic to wood smoke so I had to resort back to quicklights. Should I try another bag or is this typical?

typical!. read my review in the review section on them. They come in like a plastic grocery bag, not providing any protection to the coal when its being shipped/handled. your going to find tons of little pieces and few good sized ones. also i think those burn pretty quickly. I wouldn't go with them again!

well just to set things straight i beleive those coals are all carbon. there natural chunk charcoal which isnt wood because they have been pre burnt. the only diffrence between self lights is self lights are formed by compressed dust or tiny peices of charcoal the romman charcoal is just what it is when they burn the wood chunks. personaly i like chunk charcoal in both grilling food and using for hookah *note i do not use the same type of coals!!! i beleive the natural coals be it romman or nour dont leave a charcoal taste that quicklites do and you dont have to wait for all the toxic "quicklite" powder or what have you to burn off

Thanks for the confirmation. I guess I fell for web site hype. I'll stick with my current coals. I get them at a little egyptian store near me and they only cost 2 bucks a bag. Once I figure out how to insert a picture in my posts, I'll do so.
