jerjer72
Hi everyone, First of all my internet had been down for the longest time so that is why I have not posted anything in a while. Now for my annoying rant.. It happened.. I somehow haven't felt the urge to smoke hookah for a week or so. I don't know why. When I first got my hookah I was all into it and smoked hardcore. Then I ran out of quicklights and only had natural coals left. Al ajdad ones. Those things are hard for me to use cuz I live with my parents. I am of legal age but they don't like me smoking indoors so lighting those I have to be sneeky cuz I would have to use the stove. Second of all my stove is the electric kind without the coils. There is like some sort of glass on top that is flat and you cant see any coils. I need your guys help so badly right now. I don't know how to light the coals on that thing. Well I am not sure if the surface is safe to light them on and inhale it. I read that some surfaces are non stick and hazardous to use to inhale the coals after lighting.I don't know what to do cuz those are the only coals I have Please someone help me put cuz I just got a package with some sweet shisha tobacco I have like banana split, guava, kiwi, cocktail, double apple, orange, and mint. I also got the cutest mini acrylic hookah! I think I got mya hoses with it! It is so cute though! I work in a few hours and want to try out some of this new stuff and really want to try my new hookah out. Another thing happened..while I wasn't smoking hookah I started smoking cigarettes..lol..I think I am addicted to nicotine. I smoked cigarettes for like 6 or 7 years before but quit and now I smoke them again as well as hookah. I find hookah to be much more enjoyable and relaxing but when I am outside almost at anytime I light up a cig. I don't mind smoking both. I just find hookah much more appealing. I have a great time smoking hookah. Makes me feel good and tastes really good. I just don't know a safe way to light the natural coals. I hope someone can tell me a safe way. I don't want to light them in a pot cuz the ones I have have black inside them that flake off and I wouldnt want to inhale that stuff. I am not sure if lighting on the surface of my stove is safe. I am not being paranoid I am trying to not to get crap in my lungs that will do bad things..lol I know smoking isnt exactly harmless but Im not worried about that..its the other surface things that could be on the things to light the coals I am worried about. Someone who has lighted them this way please help me know if it is fine. If there is a safe way please let me know. I have no gas stove..or portable stove..just the electric stove with no coils showing..just some flat surface on top with circles for the elemets that are flat..and I am sure chemical cleaners are used to clean the stove so I dont want to inhale that stuff also unless you guys think it gets burned off when the elements are heated up. Please help me out. I appreciate it a lot. Thanks. -jerjer72
DizzyGuy
If you get it fully lit the "chemicals" shouldn't matter.... but my thoughts on it are, and disclaimer here that I might be wrong, if you get the coal fully lit and set them off to the side and let them get a layer of ash on them and ash 'em, it shouldn't matter. My suggestion though is to go to Wal-mart and get the $8 portable stove thing

The ones at my walmart are propane..which I found in the camping aisle..and I wouldnt want to use that indoors and its too cold to use that outdoors here. If there is one that is a portable electric coil one I would get that.. See I am screwed.
JoeLipinski
The one at walmart is electric, you are just looking in the wrong section at the wrong product. If you go to kitchen appliances, like where the food processors and blenders and everything like that are, then if you look hard enough, you will either find some of the stoves, the are white in color and walmart in brand, or you might find an empty price tag. I know you can order them from walmarts website. You might also be able to pick it up at target or other similar stores.

If it is then I will definalty consider that if it is safe to use. The portable stove ideas are good also cuz I only smoke in my room. Not sure which is a better choice. cafesaden
its safe just get a coal bucket and put it on a counter away from anything, then just light them in the bucket. you dont need to lite the coals all the way naturals, like all coal, will light itself if you only light part of it. one time i didnt have any propane and lit a natural charcoal with a lighter. just lit one end of it and kept blowing on it and it lit the whole thing up. but that takes forever propane torch was like 14 bucks and 3 bucks for extra propane bottle. if you got a fireplace that works well tooo. DizzyGuy
But, cafe, he's trying to keep it on the down low....And this is what I'm talking about for stove wise. If you're worried about heat on thebottom, get one of those paving stones for outside.

jerjer72
Thanks for all the help guys! I will go search the stores for that portable burner today. I just have to sleep for a few hours first cuz I worked all night. Work was so stressful. I am looking forward to using my hookah today. That's if I can find a burner, otherwise I will try get a torch lighter or something similar to what was mentioned in the replies above. I think I will go with banana split today. All three of my al wahas smell so tempting. Well honestly I don't know which I am smelling but I can smell through the package they all came in and they smell so good! I have some other ones that came too but those weren't alwaha and I never tried this kind so I am going to try this kind before I smoke the other ones. I only have 50g packs of al waha banana split, kiwi, and guava. Then 50g packs of romman double apple, cocktail, and orange and a 250g pack of mint. I think it is the mint I am smelling but it smells good..like really good..too good for mint.

I have been thinking about quitting for a few days now and you are right. So I will give that up. It is way too expensive also and I have gone through like 3 packs in a week. jerjer72
UPDATE: I bought a portable cooking range so I can heat my coals now. Yes I am happy I finally found one. Walmart had none at all. Took me a while to finally find a place that had one and it was double the price that you guys paid but at least I have one now.

End of story. this works great

nofrendo
I have used the stove with the flat glass top. Many, many times. It actually lights the coal much quicker than a flame, and takes the outer coating off more evenly.
teox
if it helps, i also use the walmart one. its the easiest by far.

The session is equivalent yet healthier? You should probably check some sources on that, because it's definitely not true. I love hookah, but it's not any better than cigarettes, people just happen to smoke hookah less frequently.
