Mya Acrylic Base 'fog'?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I've had my mya acrylic for about 3 months, and I've started to notice that once the base is completely dry it gets this foggy gray color to it on the clear parts making it opaque. I am pretty sure that it isnt smoke residue cuz i clean it reallllllly thoroughly. this happen to anyone else?

No, but if its acrylic, it wll eventually srtart to scratch.
What kind of brush or pad are you using to clean it with? It COULD be lots of abrasions that the water fills in and renders invisible when its wet, but when it dries you can see all the scratching. Um, you dont put it in the dishwasher do you?

JUST a guess.

I'm pretty sure its not scratches or anything (those are there on the vase, but are distinctly different) this looks a lot more like condensation on a bathroom mirror. And no, i do not put my hookah in the dishwasher. but that does bring up a question (if this is retarded, forgive me) is a mya dishwashable? excluding the hose of course.

should be dishwashable but go with liquid soap and not the powder. maybe it is condensation? I have clear vynl hoses and i smoke out of them and run water through them and let them dry but they still look foggy. might just be a characteristic of plastic unsure.gif

or the temperature of your room/temperature of water you are cleaning it with. don't know jack about this but it sounds probable with the temp change

it could be hard water stains, i had that problem with my hookahs while in college, I just used CLR once a week to clean them out and they became clear again

Billy Maze here with OXICLEAN! The new revolutionary cleaner....watch as I put this soiled shirt in this bowl....

hehe..i dunno why i find that man funny...

But yes... try the CLR

My mya acrylic had this same build up. It was only above where the water line was so it definitely wasn't hard water but from the smoke. It was only noticeable when there was no water in the vase so it doesn't really make enough of a difference to worry over.

woot first post after months of lurking
