kornkitten42
so i was reading in my birth control pamphlet that you shouldn't smoke while you're on bc. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues w/ this and smooking hookah, and if i should quit smoking my hookah if anyone has had issues. I love my hookah and i probably wouldn't quit, but i hate that this has come into the light, as i wish i never read it. blahbut they say that smoking while on bc greatly increases your chances for blood clots, especially over the age of 35, i'm only 22, but eh? anyone got any feedback on this? Johnny_D
Birth Control=The Pill ?This is because of the risk of a blood clot. Which there is some elevated risks of when on the pill.Couple the above with smoking and your risk becomes even higher! If you have a family history of high blood pressure and/or coronary problems your risk is higher still.However. Common sense should prevail. Exercise, eat heathily, ect and you should be ok.If you are seriously worried then talk to your gp (doctor). If your are in a high risk category and cannot quit smoking or improve your health status then it may pay you to take a certain type of asprin. (I take this daily due to family history of heart disease)But talk to your doctor.Good luck.JD
Lakemonster
My wife is a Nurse... I just asked her why this is.Smoking on birth control increases your chances of stroke, heart attack, heart disease and blood clots..... especially if you are over 35.
