Natural Coal And Hot Plates

Recommended Posts

I got some natural coals today from my local hookah shop. I asked if i could try some of thiers, rather that the quicklites, and he said no problem; gave me about 3 inch cube.

They are very light I noticed, and since they are less dense they burn faster it seems. They also create a very long lasting coal odor. I believe they were olive wood.

Anyways, I think there has been some discussion in the past whether they could be lit by and electric element. I used my 6 inch electric flat plate that I got from target, I think, but it may also have been bought from walmart. It had no problem lighting the coals and only took a few more moments than quicklites.

So, for those of you worried you won't be able to use natural coals since you only have a electric heating apparatus, fear not, for they will lite.

Well I did get mine lit with a normal lighter..just took a while. I am about to light a third one and hopefully not drop it this time. Im going to light it over the tray in case that happens. I already have the water in my base this time so I should be almost ready. Just need to fill the bowl and finish setting up then I am going to light one. I dont care if it takes like 10 minutes I havent smoked in like a week or 2 weeks so I am doing it this way lol.
