So Far All Shisha I Tried I Have Hated.

I am not sure why but I cannot not stand the shisha I have smoked so far. I need to know if it is because of the shisha or if it is me. The ones I have tried I just do not like.

I have smoked romman only. Grape was alright. I didn't like it the first try but after that I kept smoking it and it was okay. Melon was disgusting, double apple had almost no apple taste at all. I don't know what that taste was but I am guessing it was ainse. Fruit Cocktail was way too sweet. Really it was too sweet to keep smoking. I felt nauseaus from the double apple cuz of the taste I am guessing and the cocktail right after made it worse.

Could it be that I just don't like that brand? I have 3 50g packs of al waha I could try. Are there people that like those romman flavors? I know some that do..but I don't know why I find them gross.. maybe it is just me but I don't understand why.

For the double apple I had to take off the bowl and switch to the cocktail after a short while because of the taste. Then I had to stop smoking the cocktail because of that taste too. I was going to buy more al waha but now I have my doubts about all shisha there is out there. Edited March 13, 2007 by jerjer72

And, in my opinions, neither rank very highly.

Try Layalina. Try Al Fakhir, Try Al Amir... Look at the tobacco review section.

Get some sample packs and try them.

I'd say if you give up now your falling BEFORE the first hurdle!

Also other importnat info : What kind of bowl, what kind of coals. All this makes a difference.

I haven't tried the al waha packs yet. I have kiwi, banana split, and guava yet to try. Also I have romman orange I have not tried. As for the guava I don't expect a good taste from that one.

I hate having to spend like $40 shipping if it is just for small packs but I guess that is the only way to not waste money getting something that I won't like and be stuck with.

I will order some sample packs then but I can't find a website that has all those brands. I can only find Layalina at MNhookahs and Social Smoke which I don't order from. Well haven't yet.

The bowl I have been using is a standard clay egyptian. The coals that I smoked the double apple and cocktail were al ajdad finger coals which reeked a gross smell. The other ones I used were golden quicklights which were better in my opinion.

What are the chances that I might like starbuzz? Also I was looking at the japanese style charcoals. Do those have a weird smell to them..or a taste? I had no problem with the golden coals taste or smell just the al ajdad coals. If I go with the starbuzz I will either pick up some japanese coals or three kings. Thats if I go get starbuzz. After you let the Al waha kiwi acclimate, you have the best flavor (in my opinion) out there.

Not all tobbacco is the same. It takes a while to find the brand you like. Try Fusion that i have heard is good and i am ordering that soon. Starbuzz is my favorite brand right now, but it is also the most expensive stuff. I would say buy some other brands. The Orange you have should be good, mix some Orange Juice and water (about 1/3 OJ to 2/3 Water) in your base it should be delicious

I personally don't like Romman, I find it overpriced and mediocre. Try some of the Al Waha you have.

I bought the AF sampler pack at hookahcompany for my first shisha. I was happy with just getting thick block-out-the-sun clouds, but didn't get any flavor. Then out of shits and giggles I tried 2 layers of foil, and all of a sudden I could taste what I was smoking. Usually it's just one or two minor adjustments you need to make to get a great hookah experience, once you get it, you'll wonder why you wanted to stop.

opened up my romman mint and I actually don't mind it. I am smoking it right now. I found one I can smoke and it's a good thing this was the only 250g one I got of romman cuz it seems to be the only flavor of romman I like at the momment.. I found a flavor I can smoke!

Thanks everyone. Yeah I think I will need to order a few other flavors to find something I will really like. This mint isn't bad. I was going to order some starbuzz but it is rather expensive. I don't know which to get. Maybe I will order some Al Waha After Nine, Orange Cream, and some other kind of it. I never knew hookah smoking could be so confussing.. I hope I am not being picky.

After Nine was one of the first shishas I purchased, and LOVE IT! Was hard to screw it up, even for a n00b like me (at the time I was VERY new!)

I have not had good results either, with flavors...but not giving up yet! Gonna try some samples of laylani and al fakner...

Keep trying new stuff, just get samples...

Yeah, if you like mint try Al Waha After Nine, it's great! Even my one friend who hates mint tobacco loved it.

Also, banana is a nice flavor I think, because you really taste the banana so if you like bananas then try using that.

You might also like the Cola flavor that some brands offer, the first few puffs I thought it was a bit funky but then I really enjoyed it.

jerjer, it seems like you are having a lot of trouble... more trouble than you should.

Here are a list of realllllly tasty, inexpensive, and (most importantly) very easy to smoke. These are my favorites.

AW: Orange Cream, After Nine, California Dream, Orange, Cherry, Strawberry... There are more AW, its not a "premium brand" but its damn good for the money

AA: Blackberry I hear raves about. I have a tub coming in soon

AF: Esk Apple, Cola, Pinapple


Those are the ones I have tried/intend to try... Now if you wanna get more advanced, lets talk Pharohs and Tangiers. Pharohs is a little harder to smoke, but it will give you a killer buzz. Tangiers..... well, I'm sure you know about that.

As for SB, SS offers a 500 gram pack of 5 flavors to give you a sample of everything. X on the beach is one of my favorites.

if you dont like romman orange you prob just dont like romman shisha which i beleive gives a decent nicotine buzz factor. Orange is realy good. starbuzz gives no buzz at all realy so you might want to check that out. Id say check out double apple in a couple of brands its the most widely used flavor and the flavor everyone seems to start out using i think.

XD Yeah I tried double apple and found it very disgusting. I couldn't smoke it for very long. I had to switch it cuz it was so gross. I didn't taste any apple at all. Weird cuz the package smelt good. My poor hose now..I blew really hard through my hose after to try get that taste out of it. I think I somehow got the taste to leave. I used that hose when I smoked mint today and I don't think I tasted any ainse. Maybe a slight amount but not nearly as horrid as when I smoked the double apple. Is it true that some brands of double apple do not taste like ainse? I saw that you liked the Al Amir triple apple. I want to pick that one up but I'm scared it might taste like the double apple I had and its only available in 250g and I do not want to be stuck with something that tastes like the apple I had the other day.. everyone has there likes/dislikes with tobacco. This is why its hard for a lounge to come to a medium ground when choosing a tobacco. Some people smoke for buzz/huge clouds. some people smoke for huge clouds of flavor and little to no buzz. I am pretty picky with my tobacco as well, at first I only smoked al-waha because of their enormous flavor selection, but then I graduated to layalina. Which i soon grew tired of (not my fav) and got into Romman. Really enjoyed their sweet melon, but a few of their flavors just are gross. Then, I moved to the internet. Wow, whole new ball game. Now, I only smoke Starbuzz and Smiley's Sexy Shisha. Every now and then I'll attempt my tangiers, but that just kicks my ass. Try smiley's shisha at MN hookah, its not that expensive and all the flavors are absoultey amazing IMO. if you like that, try starbuzz, I find both of these tobaccos to be pretty similar.

welll... on another aspect, explain your set-up. Also those finger coals... should be good... how are you lighting them?

Somebody said that triple apple flavors were just apple with something else added, usually cherry. But no, there is no anise in AA triple apple.

I didnt even read all of your writing because I didn't have to. When I saw you have only had Romman I instantally figured out the problem. Your using Romman and they are sick nasty crap. It burns really easily and it tastes gross. Try Al Waha, or Al Fakher. They are good and fruity. Also make sure you are smoking right and not just getting coals. Make sure you have enough water. Even if you think 1 inch looks like too much do it anyways.
