Nakhla. It is mysterious to me. Yet intriguing.

Mixed things are being spread about Nakhla. Some say it is too powerful for people who are not experienced with Narghile.

Others claim there is no better shisha available. Some say it will knock you on your A$$.

As a person who has been smoking for a month and a half or at least a month, I think I am ready to try Nakhla.

Nicotine, I can handle that. Even if I can't I think it deserves a try.

Sadly I already placed my order so I will have to wait till I place another one. I did however get Al Waha and Al Fakher. Three jars Al Fakher, One Al Waha, and two sample packs of Al Waha. Also I got two boxes three king coals because everyone was saying to get those and try them so I went along and got them.

Nakhla you are so mystyfying. Some hate you. Others love you. Yet you knock some people to the ground.

If you guys want to know which flavors I ordered I can post them if you want. I just don't want to put them down right now in case you don't want to know what I got. Edited by jerjer72

every flavor from every brand is at least worth two tries. If you do not like it both times, then don't buy that flavor again. I was in a similar position, because I got some SOEX to try and I thought should I throw this away? I tried it and I think it is pretty good (or at least the peach). You will be surprised sometimes by how one flavor in one brand can suck but a different flavor in that brand can rock your socks.

Nakhla huh. Ok You have to try 2 apple, just because everyne should in their lifetime. It's the original and probably 90% of the people had it for their 1st smoke.

The chcomint is top notch and a real ass kicker to me, and their new Tropicana is like nothing else...very tasty.

Manarin isn't so bad either.

I was thinking of trying peach, mandarin, and apple. Tropicana, and cinnamon sound good also. I heard cinnamon was strong so not sure about that one. Double Apple I will probably try too. I don't like the ainse taste of some double apples but if you guys say I should try it I will. Peach is my first choice though..mm peaches. Edited by jerjer72

Good for you on just getting a couple samples!

Ok nakhla, I was gonna try some samples...luckily for me I got a KILLER deal on 250gms of Strawberry, Grape, and Vanilla, all for just a little over what it would have cost me for samples! I got it all for $11.85

I will let you know how I do with it, cuz I am kinda new too, been smoking about 6 months now...

If they had em' I would have gotten them...in nakhla, the peach, double apple and sweet mellon, but they didn't and that is why I got what I got. Although I hear strawberry and grape are really good, and I am really looking forward to trying them! The vanilla was recommended to me by the store owner.

Cheers! And let us know how it goes with all those flavors you got...! You are going to love the After Nine! I am guessing you got 250gms of that one?

ohmy.gif daayyyyuuummm.... where'd you get that deal?

EDIT: oh and yeah, about the nakhla, I tried it once (was my first smoke) and yeah it did make be a bit dizzy haha, but I want to try it again. I had strawberry...but didn't like it much, so unless you really wanna try it I'd say avoid it, tho I've tried only 3 strawberry brands and only liked 1. Edited by jordanneff

I'll add another vote to the 2Apple flavor.. It's the only Double Apple that I find smokeable.. Very traditional taste to it, and brought back a ton of memories of my first few smoking sessions (strong flavor and good buzz)

sambookamax, post a review of your nakhla smoking experience when you get a chance smile.gif

eh, nahkla is ok... but for the money, I would spend it on something else. tongue.gif

agreed, but I think it's good for someone just getting into hookah (or most anything in life, for that matter) to try all the options out.. Then in the future, they'll know for sure where they stand on this flavor or that brand, on experience..

anyways, i'm droning on 'cause I'm bored at work...

re: getting nakhla or not? hell go for it.. grab some samples.. worst case scenario is you're out a few bucks and know where you stand on nakhla... smile.gif

Well, for the price I got it for, it was worth trying smile.gif Previously I have only tried some Havanna and Al Waha...and have terrible sessions, except with the after nine, that rocked! I am hoping Nakhla will be a better session/experience...

If you don't like the licorice taste of typical double apples. then Nakhla XX-Apple will be the same for you. I have a love affair with Nakhla products. The strawberry was my first smoke. It was at a pit in Egypt and to this very day, I can't make it taste like they did there. It requires a lot of patience and practice.
Nakhla is what I call "Impressionist" flavors. This means that instead of the flavors giving off a highly accurate copy of real fruits (like other brands), it seems to mimic those flavors inaccurately. It just tastes like someones interpretation of an apple, or strawberry. Kinda like impressionist paintings. From a distance, they look like a familiar scene, but at the same time, and as one moves in closer, we see they are just random strokes or blots to kinda' appear somewhat like a real scene. I really think this is done on purpose, because with so much shisha competition out there trying to get the flavors "spot-on," a company as huge, old and experienced as they are should theoretically have no problem in this area. After all, if new brands pop up all the time with the tooty-fruity kool-aid sensation, why can't the oldest do the same? The majority of Egyptian men smoke Zaghloul (flavorless and harsh tobacco) and when they want a flavor, 9 times out of 10, it's apple or XX-apple. They just don't dig the kool-aid thing. I'm the same way. I can do Al Waha, but not the so-called premiums. It just doesn't pack a punch, and I love the earthy, mysterious taste a bowl of Nakhla unleashes. Here are my personal picks from this company:

Apple--The absolute basic building block of flavored tobacco. No 2 brands taste the same. Perhaps Nakhla has a small pinch of anise in it, but is so good because it's very, very original. Give a true mysterious, gritty, earthen feeling of Cairo at dusk. That's livin' brother-men.

Strawberry-- The tourist shisha of choice. enough strawberry taste to be their choice, but inaccurate enough to say "WTF? But it's good!"

Double Apple (XX-Apple)-- The standard in xx-apples. Seems to have just the right combination of sweet, apples, anise. Someone did their homework for this one.

Sweet melon-- I personally think Nakhla does this one perfect. Rich, sweet and satisfying. sometimes it tastes like a Cavendish pipe tobacco, other times like a real cantaloupe melon. Whatever it is, it's always good to me. Most friends I introduced to the hookah, I made their first bowl with this flavor.

Those are the basics. I could go on and on with the likes of cherry (MRS Bubbles favorite flavor and brand) but you should just do the basics. This way you don't spend too much on samples. If you like what you taste, then you can expand into the other flavors like lemon, cherry and mango.

Sorry this was kind of long, but I wanted to give my take on Nakhla and help you find a good starting place for their line.

Nakhla as a whole is a different style of tobacco -- it's drier and less saturated with molasses/honey/corn syrup and glycerin. I perceive two results of this: 1) it's harder (but entirely possible) to get smoking as thick as some "premium" brands, and 2) the flavor seems to be stronger and less watered down.

My favorite Nakhla flavors:

Cinnamon: Strong, "hot", spicy, and satisfying. Early in the session, this stuff will actually burn your throat a little, like cinnamon gum burns your mouth. Some might not like that sensation -- when it's cooking really thick, it can make it a bit hard to take a hit -- but I find it quite satisfying. After 20-30 minutes, that burning sensation should start to fade out into a sweet cinnamon taste. I really like this stuff... it's great for mixing, too.

Sweet Melon: A very full and rich melon taste. This seems to be a common Nakhla favorite... I'd say you can't really go wrong with it.

Double Apple: The grand daddy of all 2x apples. Unless you really dislike anise, this is a must try.

Peach: A very full and ripe peach flavor. In the past, I've had some issues with this tobacco being a little temperamental, but if you're a fan of peach flavors I'd suggest giving it a shot. I've tried peach flavors from Al Ajamy, Starbuzz, Pharaohs, and Tangiers -- to me, Nakhla's take on peach seems to stand on its own.

Mandarin Orange: Has that orange-peel freshness to it. The best orange I've tried, though the only other I've had is Pharaohs, which is more of a candy flavor.

Cardamon: Gotta be careful with this stuff -- it's very strong and unique, and on first whiff it might smell a bit like Vicks vapor rub. Actually, it might smell a lot like Vicks vapor rub. After smelling it, I was kinda scared to smoke it but ended up enjoying it a lot. I'm not familiar with Cardamon as a spice, so I can't really talk about the accuracy of the flavor, but it seems to me to be a combination of mild menthol, pine, and perhaps something else I can't quite identify. A great mixer, but it's likely to stink up your pipe and hose.

Come to think of it, the only Nakhla flavor I've tried that I haven't enjoyed is grape.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will try the apple, mandarin, peach, and double apple if it is different then the apple. If having two apple flavors is fine I will get both. Possibly I might throw in the banana and cinnamon also but as for that vapour rub stuff, seems too strong for me to start with.

I think nahkla is the first brand everyone tries biggrin.gif

I've often lamented that nahkla done right is the real taste of the middle east smile.gif

I had some nahkla in the funnel bowl the other day. It did not work at all sad.gif

I truly believe nahkla just needs an old fashioned bowl and some good heat mangement and away you go!

JD - Truly a nahkla fan.

nakhla for sure isn't that good on average. however, it can have a certain potency, and if you're lucky to get a fresh box, it'll be decent. if you haven't tried it, it's definitely worth it. i thought that hookah rules dictated nakhla as the first brand to smoke
