tingjunkie
Happy St. Paddy's day to all my fellow Irishmen and honorary Irish-for-a-day peeps! In the Irish tradition, here's a great story to set the mood:My great grandmother Katie lived in County Cork. She was a real Irish spitfire, according to my Mom and aunts and uncles. She was a 5 ft. tall fiery redhead, and stubborn as they come. During the "troubles" when Ireland was fighting for it's independance and guys like Michael Collins and Padhraic Pierce wre leading the charge, my great grandmother secretly ran guns for thr IRA. One story goes that the Black & Tans (british soldiers) came and did an unexpected search of Katie's neighborhood, looking for IRA supporters. It just so happpened that she had a chest full of illegal rifles and guns sitting in her kitchen at the time. When the Black and Tans barged into her home, Katie killed them with kindness. Keep in mind she was about 6 months pregnant with my great uncle as this was happening. She warmly greeted the soldiers with a smile and offered them Tea! She sat the soldiers down at the kitchen table, calmly poured them each a cup, and proceeded to sit down and join them. Where did she sit? On top of the chest full of guns! The soldiers left, and never suspected a thing. Long live the Republic and the Irish people!Go get yourselves a pint of the dark stuff, and don't forget to toast the rebels like my great-grandma! jerjer72
Yeah Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you guys I'm irish also but unlike you I have to work tonight so I could not celebrate I don't feel too great right now so I guess it's not too bad.. but if I didn't work tonight I would probably be drinking anyway regardless how I feel lol. It kind of annoys me how people who aren't irish view it just as a day to drink. Sure people drink of this day to celebrate but most don't even know what it is about. My friend told me it is about leprechauns.. I will just laugh at her.. XD I like that non-irish people celebrate but the fact that people think it is just another reason to get wasted makes me raise my eyebrow and shake my head at them. What makes it even worse is there are people who claim to be irish to seem "cool" as they think that saying that to people on this day makes them get attention lol.. I know this one girl who claims all these things: she calims she is: a vampire hawaiin dog the bounty hunters neice lived with ozzy and the osbournes met david bowie had coffee with robert englund in england met micheal jackson makes sheep noises... >_< and tries looking cute says aloha..to everyone..she isnt hawaiin claims she got hit by a car and drank her blood while she lay on the street while her ambulance came. sleeps in a coffin... Apparently she worked for Disney! lol.. She claims she drew for the Bambi movie.. uhhh that was out before she was born lol.. So as you can tell she lies to get attention. How people believe her.. I dont know.. lol.. She has never met anyone famous.. or done most the things she claims.. I can't stand people who lie for attention.. but yeah Happy St. Pattrick's Day! woot! tingjunkie
QUOTE (ghostofdavid @ Mar 20 2007, 07:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>... not a fan of guiness? Why?!Don't like drinking bread? More like a big clump of moss scraped off a rock then brewed like tea, then cooled and carbonated! Dispite my Irishness, I'm not a huge fan either. I am, however, a HUGE Bailey's fan. But then again, I'm the only Irish dude I know who's allergic to wool. Go figure.
