I love my phunnal, I havent used smilies but I dont think I'll ever go back to a regular bowl because its much easier to clean up afterwards. Especially if you smoke very juicy brands it prevents the juice from leaking into the base and down the neck (IE you dont get so much resin stuck in the neck) and it smokes for hours.

Any update on which works better? I have a medium funnel w/ pyrex mod and just ordered smileys ultimate bowl, so I'll be testing them both out as well.

overall, I'm going to say the phunnel. I posted something on this before comparing the differences.

quick recap:

smileys:
pros - cool looking, glass transfers heat easily, less coal is used, better flavor.
cons - juices drip like a mofo, screen IMO doesn't work as good as foil (i got a screen with 3 holes), expensive

phunnel:
pros - innovative design, holds the juices, long smoke sessions, better flavor.
cons - not good for a 'quick' smoke session, big/bulky, fairly expensive, sometimes takes a bit of modding to get smoking correctly (ie. scalli mod or what I did)

I smoke out of both, but phunnel more regularly. Smokes better IMO.... BUT BUT, i get fatter rips out of the smiley bowl. Huge thick clouds of smoke, but the bowls last like 45 minutes tops for me. I can't get the correct coal ammount or something. one second no smoke, add a little chunk of coal and bam its burnt. takes practice.

I have smoked both and...

I used to say I like the phunnel bowl over the smiley bowl for the same reasons as cafesaden..

BUT

i have recently stopped using the phunnel bowl becuase I get bigger rips off the smiley bowl and other egyptian style bowls. I usually only smoke for 1.5 hours at a time and these bowl last that long while the phunnel lasts 3+ hours so it is a waste of tobacco

smileys bowl is not done right, the funnel is way too low and doesnt work as well as the phunnel bowl. Also the scalli mod is useless is well, all these variants are defeating the whole purpose of the funnel bowl. Stick with a small phunnel and you will be fine.

im pretty sure the scalli mod improves the purpose of the funnel bowl. it draws the oxygen through the bottom of the tobacco, not just the top.


on another note, im smoking sexy cherry and bubbleberry mix in my smileys bowl right now.

I think both are great Heads in there own way. The Glass uses less coal and conducts heat al around the bowl for a even smoke. The funnel Bowl holds all of the juice. That really works well with all Shisha Brands. I do suggest a Five Star Vortex Smiley Glass Mod for the Tangiers Bowl. These together make a fine smokeing session.

i know this is kind of off topic, but i don't think i should start a new thread for this.

how do you clean the glass for smiley's bowl/screen? the tobacco left black stains, and i tried scrubbing it, some came off but it's still there
