Dead Bowls?

when do you guys stop smoking a bowl? do you check under the foil for it all to be burned?

if there is still some unburned shisha at the bottom do you guys light up more coals to smoke it or do you just pack a new bowl if you feel its not worth it for a little bit of shisha?

after awhile you can just taste it. If i do decide to keep sominkg whats left i stir up and put another coal on it .

Well I have moved on to the GOD LIKE status where I know how long my bowls should last for.

But when I first started well, I would say the first year of smoking my own hookah I would keep going until the flavor ended. At that point it will still smoke fine but will have no taste or (sticking to my last used theme) a yeast infection taste.

I would say when you get close to that 45 minute mark the bowl will start to die out if you are using the bowl that came with the hookah. You can probably push 1 hour, maybe more if it is just you smoking.

Anyway, as for the person who asked the question about how long a bowl should last. It really depends on how much you put in there, and the heat. If you're using too much coal you're prone to burn it and your bowl will last all of 10 minutes haha, but if you have the right amount of coals on (1-2, some people even use three haha) and make sure you dont put too little or too much shisha in, you should have about 1-2 hours of good smoke (depending on brand and bowl size). As for telling when it's done? Well it first starts to lose flavor, thats when you should probably start wrapping it up, but if you keep pushing it and smoking flavorless smoke then it'll begin to get pretty harsh and nasty... thats when you're smoking nothin' but charcoal and burnt crispy shisha haha. I advise not to do that and just replace it when it loses most or all flavor.

LOL, well I knew when the bowl ended. But those first few I just kept smoking till the flavor was done. Now I know how long my bowl will go for depending on how much I pack and how tight.

Depending on the tobacco you can use up to 3 charcoals max per bowl. You can taste and easily tap the tinfoil to see how hard the tobacco is (Hard= Burned)

I usually just pack a little shisha and use one coal then when the coals done Im done, unless there is a lot of other people smoking too. But that usually lasts me 40 minutes or so

Hookah smoke goes down baby bottom smooth. so when you take a hit and your throte feels a burny bit, it means you have A burnt the crap outta your shisha or your bowls kicked... if its at the 45 minute mark then its prolly kicked. if its harsh early on, you have burnt your shisha and should sell your hookah on ebay. and send the profits to me!

I useually will take the foil or screen off so that its still in one piece then I will flip it over it should be like a biscut and put the foil or screen back on and smoke the rest till it done. It is really good plus you waste less shisha and increase your smokeing session. Give it a try. Good luck

I'd go with that Hookah Bob!

But normally the 'comes as standard' bowl will last about 1 & 1/2 hrs.
Funnel bowl well over 2 hrs.

And the shisha is still not done at the bottom.

But to try and address the OP's question - I find when you just can't stop that harsh
taste at the back of the throat - your bowl is cooked good.

I can easily get 2 hrs from 15 g. in my small phunnel much more on the medium and large bowls. If it starts to taste harsh, usually the problem resolves with less heat. Last weekend I was at Odyssey, Sonthert's lounge, I noted they have moved to serving only large phunnel bowls. Filled with approximately 60 g, they last what seems like forever. I had a three hour session on Sat night, came back Sunday and smoked another two hours or so from the same head. I dumped it out to see what was left- I had only gone through about half of it. Still had a good passionfruit flavor. One more thing about the large heads is the volume of smoke they generate with 4 coals is truly impressive. But the small phunnels work super too. Well worth the investment!

I will usually smoke a bowl until the flavor starts to diminish, i then either pack a new bowl or take a few last puffs and call it a day

I can usually get a bowl to last 2 hours. But lately, even then a lot of the bottom of the bowl is still uncooked. It just depends, I've gone through a flavor in an hour and had it completely cooked through. But, right now I can keep flavor for about 2 hrs, pretty consistantly, I know cause I watch a lot of movies when smoking.

But, you will deffinately have a huge change in flavor when done, to be more like cigs, I don't like cigs so I stop, but I could probaby still smoke the flavorless husk for another hour if I really wanted to.

If you're loosing flavor at about 30-45 min, you need to manage your heat better, I can get even the smallest 15g bowls to last well past an hour. Try starting the hookah with less heat and moving the coals more often. That should increase your time.

I smoke the bowl until no more smoke comes out, usually around 1hr 15mins. But I don't get that yeast infection taste, maybe because of the tobacco I use?

Same here, but with a 40mm Three Kings. Could probably toss another one on, as there is always more unsmoked tobacco in the bowl, but I'm good with a shorter smoke.

anyways i usually smoke a bowl until i don't feel like smoking anymore. A normal bowl will last me about an hour and a half- 2 hours. Usually i'll start off with two 3k and for a two hour smoke usually i'll use 4 depending on how much i want to smoke.

my shisha is usually cashed all the way through if i smoke for 2 hours.
