tobbsman Posted April 13, 2005 Share Posted April 13, 2005 Yes, shisha-forum.de is a great forum. And it is the absolutly biggest Forum concerning Hookah-smoking on the web. I am in there for some years. It started with very less people, a small community, great friends. Recently I seems that it explodes, thats a pitty and the Forum-Moderators take to much action ... But still there are hundreds of members which have great knowledge. However the structure of the page is quite well organized ! The buy/sell area works perfectly. The tobacco reviews are oredered very well and one can find immediately reviews about a certain flavor. The "Home-made"-area rocks ! However, I olso appreciate the mass of the Hookahforum, the unorganized threads etc.. Both has positive and negative points ... Nathalie Posted April 13, 2005 Share Posted April 13, 2005 shisha-forum.de was the first hookah forum I came across actually and I got some of my original input from there but living in Canada I found this forum more applicable to me, plus despite my fluency English is still my preferred language of communication But I still check it from time to time for especially their homemade section and such since they have some interesting stuff on there....but shisha-guide.de I just checked out and it's definitely a great site ch1z.... But, quite frankly, I haven't seen anything in this forum worth closing or anyone worth banning. Except when Evilmajarajah registered and I looked at his profile and saw that not only does his name sound negative, but he's also into this pagan sh*t. I was going to give him an ultimatum to either change his name or face banning. In a forum such as this, with all the good people in here, I feel it's good to weed-out the negative-minded people. Now maybe Evilmajaraja wasn't evil-minded and his pagan background is purely innocent in nature, but I just got a bad feeling about the guy. I'm not going to ban him, I'll leave that up to adrock5150, but all I'm saying is as a moderator it's tempting to delete posts, close threads, and ban certain people. When you have the power to do it, sometimes it goes to moderator's heads and they get arrogant with their power, which seems to be the case over at that German forum. Personally, I believe a forum is a place for open-minded individuals to express their views on whatever they want, as long as it doesn't offend the integrity of the forum. It's really not my place to ban Evilmajarajah just because I don't like his name. But, if it was offensive to enough other people in the forum, then under those circumstances I would consider banning him, or anyone else. But, I haven't banned anyone yet, or abused my powers as a moderator. I was a member of a computer-related forum, and this one moderator kept abusing his powers and closing threads and banning people without warning them first, and the president of the company had to get down on him for abusing his Moderator priveledges. I agree there are some post, like slamming people and the weed posts that need to be at a minimal. Luckily we have not had a major problem with that.
