Hookah Holepunch

I found this on a German hookah website yesterday ([url="http://www.shishagott.de"]http://www.shishagott.de[/url]) and thought it was a cool idea, so my brother offered to make me one with NERV's patented star pattern (since that works well for me)

I know it looks like a medieval (sp?) torture device but what do you guys think? While it wouldn't be useable for all brans of tobacco since some brands need more or less holes, I figure it should make setting up a hookah a fair bti faster and easier and is quite easy to make (a piece of wood and some thin nails basically)

If more or less holes are required then make 3 sets of those.

actually I was wondering this today since I need to master the hole pattern...how many holes do you guys usually put about? do you just put them randomnly? is it better to have too many or too few holes, etc.?  That is somethign  I am definitely not that good at yet I don't think...

i would imagine the nails would have to be very sharp, it seems like it
might just rip the foil, but i supposed u never kno without tyring

I use staples, a ton of staple holes makes for the best smoke.  The holes are small and let minute amounts of ash into the bowl.

It will vary from what most people here will tell you. A lot of people say that the "star of david" pattern with only like 15-20 stars works best,  but I counted once and I myself use around 30 holes. I use a head-pin so the holes are pretty tiny.
