b1m9x
Today me and a few friends dropped by our usual hookah bar, went to the back made a hookah for each of us and just chilled. While we were preparing the hookah we were just staring at the tubs of shisha, all of which we have had plenty of times and just sighed at the fact that we can't get any good shisha here in ecuador. Now I admit I didn't mind Nakhla at first... it was my first smoke after all, It's just after smoking it every other day for a year I just need a change. I had a nice stash from when I went to the states that we would smoke at my house, but slowly that dissapeared, if not from smoking it stupid maids would steal it thinking they could make a quick buck after they ran off with our other crap . Luckily, however, soon I will be in Texas studying in college and be able to order some good shisha again. I'm not trying to bash Nakhla, it's not really that bad, its a decent smoke and I still adore their double apple but I think it is a time for a change. So if anyone is heading down to Quito soon, which is unlikely but... please bring me shisha!!! I will pay you!!! just make sure it's not Nakhla... Kingsofronin
if youre willing to pay, then why not just order off the web?and if you do, make sure you buy alot.who wants to wait weeks to get their shisha everytime they want it?
b1m9x
Ecuadors tobacco duties are rediculous. I have to be careful when I hand carry it in myself. If i ordered it I would end up paying upwards of $50 for shipping and about $20 in duties per box of shisha.
Kingsofronin
thats a little over exageration...youre not gonna have to pay $50 a tub for shipping...and i dunno about the 20 a tub for handling, but that sounds a bit hefty too.i dunno,it just looks l ike thats your only choice.guess youll just have to stick with your nakhla. And a few online vendors will send the package, how can i put this?,...... In a manner that is unlikely to flag it to customs officials.I only ever order my tobacco from the US Try it ! Zerodynamic
How long do you have before you head to Texas? Can you hold out until then?
cafesaden
you could always try making your own shisha a bit hard, but I'm sure where you live you'd have some crazy ingredients/flavours.try washing nahkla and adding flavor extracts or something. yashman19
QUOTE (Kingsofronin @ Mar 30 2007, 02:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>thats a little over exageration...youre not gonna have to pay $50 a tub for shipping...Uh.. read his post a little more carefully.. Total shipping on his package will be about $50, and a tobacco duties tax of ~$20 per tub. Also, that doesn't seem that hard to believe. Coming from the US, anything being shipped out of the country will cost you quite a bit. In addition if your country has high tobacco duties, they charge you a certain amount per gram. Ask some of the fellow UK'rs how much they have to pay if their package is halted at customs. Ask JD especially, as he got screwed with an obscene amount in the past. cafesaden
i was considering moving to amsterdam, but my love for hookah and the prices that people over there talk about (shipping) made me decide not to lol.

b1m9x
The prices I posted really aren't all that exagerated. For a box of maybe 3-4 250g tubs the shipping would be around $50, I don't know why shipping to south america is so high but it just is. My dad pays $38 to send a single letter to the states through DHL. I might be able to get it through customs because they are technically not supposed to open any shipment that is under 1lb, however that is not how they are here and if they do open it it would either end up with large taxes or I would be paying hefty bribes to get my stuff. I lived in Cambodia for a while and while I was there me and my dad ordered some parts for our motorcycles worth around $600, the customs officials tried to charge us $1000 just in taxes alone, luckily we were able to get it all out with about $200 in under the table payment but it is just rediculous. You all in the States, Canada, and the UK should be thankful that you all can buy quality products for low prices and not have to deal with bribery and corruption. The Nakhla here is not expensive ($8 per 250g because of different taxes on bulk imports and possible under the table dealings) but again I am just ready for a change. All in all I'm just gonna have to suck it up and be thankful that I have shisha. I have some friends in Thailand and Cambodia that can't even buy shisha there and have to bring it all in themselves each summer when they go to the states or France. So I guess life isn't that bad.
