ioannisds
I'm in, um the middle of, um, (south) east Roseville. In all seriousness, I saw this post and all could think was "wow, that Smiley is a great guy". As much as I am against this war, our people out there could use more generousity such as this to make their tough life at least a little bit more pleasant. I just ripped a bunch of DVDs to send out to some folks out there that my wife knows throughs someone at work. Smiley, it is really awesome to see someone on the forum doing this. I only hope someone out there sees this and takes you up on your offer.

HarryTheHookaMaster
Smiley, Props....I spent a year in Iraq, not in the military but as a Combat Firefighter. My year overseas gave me this great Hooka habit! FYI, from what I learned over there...some bases do not allow the Military folks to smoke Hooka. Some Commanders feel its not a good image! At my base, the Military folks weren't allowed to smoke with us! I hope you can get some good stuff over to the men and women who are allowed to smoke Hooka. All we could get was AW and Nakala(sp?) its what the locals smoked. We were up to our eyeballs in Double Apple!!!Thanks for the thought, good luck...HarryQ-West Fire Dept, Station 2 Eastside Boyz! cemab4y
For the record: I am a CIVILIAN serving with US Forces here in Iraq. (I am a veteran, US Air Force 1973-1978, now way too old and too fat for military service)! I am a hookah-phile, got started in Saudi Arabia in 1997. I am volunteering with a number of individuals in the USA to get CARE packages for the troops here (Most of the donors are Freemasons and Masonic lodges). If you would like to send any thing here for the US Forces, I will be glad to distribute the items. Biggest need here is for sporting goods/games/recreational equipment. The base has a great Rec hall and Gym, but there is a glitch with the funding for replacement equipment, so we are depending on generous Americans like you.Regardless of how you feel about this military conflict, I am glad that at least people are not picking on the troops, and supporting our men and women 100% ( I was on Active duty, during the VietNam era, and I was spit on and hassled for being in uniform. Thank god, we are not blaming this mess on the soldiers, but supporting them!)Ironically, there is a little Turkish shop here that sells hookahs and supplies. Most of their hookahs are "crap", but some are fairly nice. The military authorities here, have no problem with troops/civilians buying the hookahs and smoking them. Problem is the APO mail here will not let you send a hookah home to the USA, after it has been used even once. You can only mail home a brand-new hookah! If anyone is interested in donating anything to the troops here, please PM me here, or send email directly tocemab4y@hotmail.comThanks.

I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Keep us posted on how we can help.
cemab4y
If anyone wants to send Hookahs or hookah supplies (tobacco, charcoals, etc) for the troops here, I will be delighted to distribute such items. We can also use soap/toothpaste,etc. Candy and snacks like beef jerky are always appreciated. There are about 3,000 troops on my base, and the little micro-PX is not adequate.
