The King
Cleaning your hookah doesn't realy make more flavor, it just washes away the old smoke remains so that you can taste the smoke more. I have never heard that don't wash your bowl thing... I just run water through everything exept my hoses and it gets clean

Shifty
That sounds like something where a cook saves the juice after he bakes a chicken to use in a soup.. However you aren't eating this, and this isn't chicken.I clean my hookah after every time I smoke, not because i'm obsessed with it. But I feel that smoking a hookah is more about the ritual of the setup, smoking, and cleanup. So if I am going to do something, darnit I am going to do it right. I don't want to be tasting the raspberry I smoked before, if I am smoking after nine now. If I wanted that, I would just mix the shisha together. With that being said, I have a set of cleaning brushes I use for the base and stem. Use a toothbrush for the bowl, and a little bit of soaking and a brillo pad for the glass scalli mod. I just use hot water and a little muscle grease. Let them sit to dry and then pack them up. My thoughts are if you don't let things start to build up in the first place, your cleaning will be easier every time.S
Zerodynamic
well, cleaning is pretty easy, and not that time consuming. You can do a quick cleaning, or a deep cleaning. For a quick cleaning, I get in hookah in the sink, put water down the stem, and get a wet stem brush and move it up and down inside the stem. Rinse. I then do the same for the hose connections. For the base I fill it up to the top with water, and put the base brush in. Swab it around for a few and you are done. I do this procedure everytime I smoke. For a deep cleaning it gets a little more involved. First, I get go to the grocery store and get a nice big bottle of lemon juice... as big as they have in stock.. which is usually like 64 oz. Then I make a 50/50 water/lemon juice mix. Put in pot, bring to a boil. After it is boiling, I fill my base with the solution. Then I usually take some sort of container that can hold my stem (if you dont have one a big sink and a few garbage bags works well too!) and pour the mixture so it is completely immersed. Oh also, take off your base grommet while letting it sit. Nothing is worse than having the acid from the lemon juice break down your tobacco stains and your rubber grommet!-------Fast-Forward 30 minutes-------After you let sit, get your brushes and clean as if you were going a quick cleaning. Rinse. You're base should look like new and all of the crud you couldn't get out of the stem should be gone. I like to dry my stem after I rinse, and I put on some metal polish to protect the finish and make it extra shiny. Also, if you have any surface rust on the non-finished metal, CLR and a good rag will usually do that trick. As for washable hoses, I run water through them. Then I swing them around, and run water through them again... then I hang dry. I don't use lemon juice on hose simply because the juice is acidic, and could possibly damage the hose.I think that about covers all of it. Whodat1004
This seriously comes up all the time. Search next time. But the basics are lemon juice or vinegar and a brush. I like to boil my boils in vinegar in the microwave.

The clay will slowly start absorbing the double apple flavor. So in time smokeing the same flavor out of the same unglazed bowl will benifit in flavor. If you can do the same with a hose. Dedicate it to Double Apple again in my case. Then the Double Apple flavor increases with every smoke. but eventually you rinse them out. But you still will have that Strong double Apple odor in your hose. I dedicate a whole Hookah to one Flavor. . So I say yes in certain situations it does help. But you can rinse your bowl. But try that out. Dedicate a Hookah to one flavor only. Maybe only smoke simalr flavors out of it. Smiley
cemab4y
I prefer a spotless hookah, for aesthetic reasons. Here is what I do:The glazed ceramic bowls do just fine in the dishwasher. The multiple rinsing, gets them clean.I prefer a small toilet brush, to clean the water reservoir, this gets all of the residue and scum out of the neck of the reservoir, and makes it easy to clean the 'shoulder'.I prefer a long wire brush, with 3/4 inch bristles to clean the stem. A couple of drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid and warm water, then a couple of gentle up and down strokes, then rinse.A good silver polish, applied with a small sponge, will get all of the crevices on the outside of the stem. Then polish off the residue with a lint-free cloth. warm water poured through the hose, will rinse out the residue. If the wood tip of the mouthpiece is looking discolored, then you can get woodstain in a "magic marker" type of dispenser, and a few strokes of the felt tip, will restore the color of the wood. A clean hookah is a "HAPPY HOOKAH" (lmao!)
