cypherkk
many, many women love hookah. In fact I believe more women smoke cigarettes than men. At least that I've known. The difference is, hookah is more of a hobby than a habit. Its also not easy or quick, which most cigarette smokers, smoke cigarettes for: the fast effect of nico. But when it comes to hobbies, generally men will be more into the physical, mechanical aspect of a hobby and women will be into the social aspect of the hobby. Buying, stocking, setting up the hookah is a very mechanical aspect, while the smokeing is more of the social aspect. And from my experience, more women will smoke a hookah at a party then men, but it will typically be men setting it up and keeping it going.Last year between the end of feb and halloween we had about 3-4 parties or "kickbacks" a week and trust me, many women gravitated toward the hookah, but not one handled the coals, packed a bowl or cleaned it. But thats ok. thats the little differences between us that make us great together. now, theres always exceptions, some women will get into the mechanical nature of the hookah hobby and some men will only be into it for the social aspect of it. But this is not the norm. My friend has a theory and often we've checked into, that even women who are deep into a hobby are still "really" into the social aspect of it even though it doesn't appear they are. Sonthert
Marlboro was designed to be smoked by women...the Marlboro Man came later (from what I hear)My point was there is a progression in the acceptance of things that is gender dependent. Pornography was an example, as was bars. Its a little abstract, perhaps, but what are you going to do? Patterns develop, and parallels and similarities spring up...I just calls them like I see them. I had a GI Joe doll when I was a kid...and the dog, Grip. The actual marketing attempt at crossing gender boundaries was what I was questioning. I was saying that acceptance in "male" pursuits, especially venal ones, crosses to women slowly and the male influence in the consumption/use drops until women are doing it by themselves. Several Arabs told me that our modern hookah tobacco was designed with women in mind...they wanted something to smoke and pipe tobacco (Zaghloul among others) was unappealing to them. Girlgeek: My point exactly...you would avoid going to a porn store without a man...right? It wasn't more than 15 years ago (in SanDiego anyways) that women wouldn't enter a porn store no way, no how, except the mass-marketed ones that were all glitzy and devoid of jerk-off booths and glory holes (and even then...). In San Diego, we are right around 4 or 5 on my list with porno stores, 6 with bars and 3 with hookahs (although in San Diego, its closer to 4/5) While the man with the women is frequently gay (just for show) . cemab4y
This is an interesting discussion, I am fascinated by the responses. I honestly think that more women, if they knew the unique experience of hookah smoking, would take it up. The popularity of hookah, regardless of gender, is catching on nationally. I am going to enjoy watching it develop. Let's hear from some more women.
stjohns
I am a male and was introduced to hookah by a group of female friends when we all went to a hookah lounge in NY. I was the only hookah virgin in the group and they explained it all to me. The ring-leader of that posse (who's a smokin' hot Coyote Ugly-type party girl) jokes that I'm a nut since I went out and bought a hookah and joined a hookah cult (I told her about this forum). cemab4y
The ring-leader of that posse ??Well, I would like to hear the experiences of a ring-leader! Can you persuade her, and her co-horts to share their hookah experiences on this forum? And photos! How about it!

sebby_0
If she has never smoked anyhting before then you should probably start of with something that has a fairly weak flavour and not much buzz. Also think what she likes. If she doesn't like coconut then dont give her a coconut flavour.
chinamon
earlier this week i brought my hookah over to one of my girls' place. it was her (and her sisters) first hookah experience. the bet was the sisters reaction on her first inhale. she inhaled and said "tastes like nothing" then when she exhaled she said "omg mango!". now i got them thinking about buying their own. wooooooooo

Jamal
Here in East London, girls participate just as much as boys when it comes to shisha. But its more a social gathering than a outing to enjoy shisha.

But for very first time NON-SMOKERS I would stick to something a little less "strong" such as some Al Waha or AF, and then in some basic flavors: grape, strawberry or peach. Apple if they like apple. I am typically a Non-ciggy smoker, when I first started I could barely handle AW and got sick off Nakhla the first time I smoked it. Lay or Star would have been alittle too much for me then. My girlfriend smokes with me, as do a few female friends, but for the most part the people who want to keep up an image of "wholesome" wont try it, even if they smoke other things.Just by virtue of it coming out of a waterpipe, people associate it with drugs, and even if not drugs, its associated with being "improper"
mrmonk7663
My fiance smokes with me all of the time. I bought her a hookah of her own that she sets up and uses by herself alot too. My fiance's mom also smokes the hookah, as well as her Aunt, pretty much everday. They are Palestinian from Israel. Bringing nations and people from across the world together, that's the POWER OF THE HOOKAH haha. Later.Asalamu Alaikum,Michael
iluvahipokeinhi
i first started smoking hookah this past april. i hated it the first time. dont remember what flavor brand or nothing, just knew that i didn't like it. the second time i smoked was a hookah bar in west lafayette a few weeks ago. very, very enjoyable experience. tried peach and pomegranate, had a bunch of my friends around. good times. it wasn't until last week when i went out to a different hookah bar called ali baba's in indy, that i decided i had to have one of my own. and that's just what i did. i did my research, mostly on this forum , and bought myself a hookah from h-s and have been super happy since then. it was almost better than christmas when it arrived.i really really enjoy smoking out of my hookah, so much so that i have practically stopped smoking cigarettes altogether. i am very much a social cig smoker, but i dont even want to do that anymore. i would rather take the time to setup my hookah than to light a cig. i really enjoy being able to chill, listen to some music and light up my hookah whenever i want. i am still a newb but by the end of the summer, i'll be an old pro (hopefully). i have only tried 4 flavors so far, romman orange and peach, layalina watermelon and nakhla strawberry (im a fruit girl cant ya tell). all decent, nakhla being my favorite because it is practically idiot proof to setup and had a whale of a buzz. bachdragon
There is something extremely sexy about women when they are smoking Hookah, use your imagination.Often, I've seen them use that to their advantage. If you ever see a girl who knows how to smoke hookah good, go after her, take my advice
EternalSoil
they do that on purpose. I think a girl that will causally smoke with a bunch of guys or on her own or whatever is badass. i hate the girls who get all stupid and giggly over it. i like it when they just chill and smoke, no bullcrap. I hate when people act differently or try to make a big deal that they're smoking Hookah... just chillout and enjoy. As far as girls smokign hookah, there's probably 15 people or so in our little hookah group, and about half are girls... so I never though of it as a male-only pursuit.Though I guess the only one's of us that own Hookahs are guys... huh... Are there any women who enjoy the Hookah? I have been scrolling through the posts, and I have not yet found any Distaff smokers yet. Is this a male-only pursuit? Do any of your wives participate? (Mine does not smoke Hookah, yet, only cigarettes).there are lots of women who enjoy hookah they are just picky as hell as to what they want to smoke. they like to mix flovors together and make a big deal out of it.
