Rani Posted July 1, 2007 Share Posted July 1, 2007 I can only say that we have lots of hookah smokers at my work. Of 800 employees, probably 25% are into hookah. Of those in the field all are men. In the office of about 100 people we have maybe 4 men into it. The rest 20+ all girls - in fact only one girl who doesn't like it. And all of us enjoy trying new shisha, the ritual of setting up, all of it. One of the best smokes I've had was with him and five other guys. Another time there were like twenty people in a big room, four hookahs, and only one other girl. I've had my hookah for a year now and I'm more into it than anyone I know. Been to a lounge twice back home in California - once with three girls and my cousin (male) and second time with a girl. Went to a lounge in Florida a week ago and met a girl who worked there who likes smoking shisha. It was cool talking to someone about brands and stuff. Most don't even know there are brands of tobacco, or how many flavors there really are. They just like to smoke the stuff.But I won't even fathom the thought of hookah being a male-centric thing. Even my most whimsically gay male friends have found it simple, while even my most butch gay female friends have found it foreign and confusing.I'm thinking that the reason must be related to the phallic nature of a hookah. Now I'm 20, have my own apartment, and my own hookah and my girlfriend, sister, cousins, and brothers girlfriend all smoke with me alot....
