Twang
I got my Amer Khalil Mamoun, with a blue base and blue hose in today. I also got a blue phunnel. The phunnel chipped during shipping... (what do you think will happen with that). The hookah is not sealing where the stem goes into the base, it also is not sealing where the hose connects to the stem. Any suggestions? I'm thinking about putting some electrical tape under the grommets or something.
joeaflak
it looks like the glass base may not be for that shaft.the base usally comes in several sizes and should match up with the shaft. id try returning it. electrical tape is just gonna get annoying cause it gets stuck if you dont disassemble between uses.otherwise try put the tape first and try squeeze the grommet over the tape. as the last guy said, soak in hot water first. Barnzy02
a quick and easy fix for the leak where your hose connects to the stem. Wrap a dry piece of paper towel around the end of the hookah, wet it a little bit and then stick it in. It should create a perfect seal, I used to do this with my old hookah, it came with no hose or bowl grommets, and my base grommet was the wrong size so i had to tape that, so taping your stem should work for you
only hookah head
for the hose i use paper towel i tere a lil bit just so i can wrap around the tip of the hose, meaning where the end of the hose goes in the shaft. try that. btw i have the same hose. best hose ever. ioannisds
Seriously dude (and I know I'm gonna get ripped on for this), complete and total airtightness with a hookah does not really matter. If you've got it, great. If you've got a BIG leak, ok, then there's a problem. But if it's just a slight air leak, you are gonna be just fine. I've had machines that had little leaks all over the place, and smoked perfect. I've had others that were airtight, and they smoked the same. Luckily for us, hookahs are not super advanced pieces of equipment, ala the vacuum system in a modern automobile. You can try the electrical tape, but I would just give her a go and see what happens. I would bet money, if the leak is small, that she will smoke just fine. On a side note, I ordered the Hafa from HC, and my base looks exactly the same. I had the impression there was a difference on the Amer, but I guess not. My stem is taller though. And my hose sucks. Leaks everywhere. But I still smoke with it and it is teh good. One more thing. Did you clean out your stem yet? I had loads of black gunk come out of mine when I did before smoking it (almost like grease or tarnish), and I was just curious if anyone else ran into the same thing. HC is being completely lame responding to my e-mail (meaning, they have not), so it's up to me to investigate. Enjoy your new toy! These guys smoke awesome. These guys smoke awesome. It was not airtight at all, really big leaks. Unsmokeable the way it was. I believe the stem and hose are different on the Amer and Hafa. And different color bases. I got the Hafa base (maybe it is slightly larger in diameter at the opening, causing some of the problems), Amer stem, blue khalil marmon hose. And yes there was a lot of black gunk. Ive just about have it airtight now.

It probably was that you got the Hafa base with the Amer stem... What's interesting to me is that on my base, the supposed Hafa, is a small stamp/painted on thingee that says Amer. But I thought the Amer base had a red pattern instead of a blue? I'm starting to wonder if these names mean anything about anything at all.
